Good stuff.

Really interested in seeing how the front end turns out...having trouble visualizing the panhard 8" in front of the housing with the axle moved forward 3" and the frame horns trimmed.

What are the plans for the steering?

FC holding class on suspension geometry...would have loved to have been a fly on the wall.

Jealous.

So yeah. The panhard that far out made me scratch my head too. But FC said we could move it back some. Likely that will happen.

Steering will mostly stay the same. It's already full hydro. I'll be putting in a new ram that FC gave me. That will be the only change. Well, that and making the ram fit.

And the s*** he's building in his shop is, as they say here in Cali, RAD!

She saw tha little fridge drawer and was sold.

Yep. That did it. It was the fridge drawer.

Actually, I figure that since all his s*** actually works regardless of how beat it is, this should go pretty well. Plus I can pay him in beer.

I was wondering/thinkng the same thing JT....full hydro solves alot of problems.

But creates some too. I was on the Rubicon in June and was having some electrical and fuel issues. Because the truck wasn't getting power (thus the reason for the rewire mind you), I couldn't steer. At least with assist you have some steering in the event of power failure.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE being able to steer this big old thing with my pinky, but if it were to lose power on a downhill? I'd be pulling a run into the tree stop a la Bossman.

Do ORIs claim to take the place of a sway bar? I didn't think it could but was curious what other's true experience with them are..

Yes, they are supposed to take the place of a sway bar. The rigs I've seen so far have been very pleased.

So today I spent some time finishing up under the hood, finished installing the panels inside, took out the headlights and cleaned up in preparation for new ones, etc. Mostly just little time consuming stuff I needed to get done before I head home. Bill started removing all the crap that's accumulated on the frame through many years of redneck engineering. There is a lot to do there. He also build stands for the truck. It was on jack stands previously. However, when Bill Stayner says "this doesn't seem safe" you know to run. FAST.

Those stands look a lot sturdier than those jackstands. Good move. Keep on keeping on the Crawl will be here before ya know it ; )

I thing they are a great choice for a Crawler. Lots less to deal with than dual springs, valving etc.

I'm a fan.

Me too, obviously. I wheeled with some friends at Clayton and Round Up and watching the ORIs work sold me. This is Ryan Busa's buggy he built.

So when I looked at ORIs vs. a good/very good coil over system these just seemed to be more straightforward. And honestly, the cost wasn't that far off when you looked at getting all the parts you needed for coil overs vs. basically just these. So no bump stops, no limiters, no sway bar, etc.

Maybe I'm just justifying the purchase, but it seemed like they would perform better, install more simply, and cost about the same $$ at the end of the day.
