This is what happens every time someone says "its, a Toyota, it will never have problems". Someone somewhere suffers the consequences of always saying that. But I do agree to let the dealer diagnose it first before you apply your own remedy.

It’s stories like this that make me second guess the naviplus... I can see that item causing a warranty denial in a situation like this. I guess you could remove it before taking it in...
for some reason I am having flashbacks about problems with 100 LC/LX head units. Back then they used to cost $2500+ for a replacement nav screen. Many opted out of navigation due to this problem and preferred the ugly screenless dash. My 100 LX is turning 20 next year but the head unit scare never went away. Lucky people sell used parts on ebay/etc.

Plus, there is no way the aftermarket stuff is as high quality as OEM toyota. Granted you can replace it much more cheaply..
Some of it is better than others but overall you are correct. I feel like it’s worth the risk for car play just for the access to better mapping on the native screen, I have no desire to have my cabin turned into a mishmash of screens and ram mounts.
Things to come? This model has been out since 2016 and this is the final year of production. There is nothing ‘to come’, unfortunately.

Absolutely. I would rather have a total failure than nagging issues as well.
I just went through this with a 2019 GMC. check engine lights and electrical issues at 150, 1000, 2500, 5000 miles roughly. Nothing big enough to cause the dealer to replace anything... just had to keep coming back. Would have preferred that it s**t the bed early on.
Whats the procedure for a reboot? Disconnecting the battery?
By that I meant that the entire infotainment system will go black and restart/reboot itself.
My new 2004 LC 100 blew its Nav screen one month after I took delivery. It was a know issue and a quality control issue. It was replaced under warranty with a new unit and it lasted 12 years until I sold it. It is a good thing it went bad now. I wouldn't worry about it.

If it's completely dead, I'd check the fuse.
Disconnecting the battery for a few minutes (not just a few seconds) will reset everything, but this type of fix is in my experience more used when something is stuck (flashing diff light, nav system screen frozen, etc) than completely dead. Not that it's not worth a shot, just speaking from limited experience.

My 2020 LC has a little over 11k on it, and it randomly rebooted the head unit 3 times last week and had a bluetooth squirrely issue another time.

Quick update since I know everyone is on pins and needles about this. 
Dropped it off at the dealer yesterday, and they confirmed that the head unit is dead. I'm told that it will be 5-7 days for a replacement part to show up. I decided to just leave it with them until they get the part, in hopes that their having it will keep the issue top of mind, and I'll get it back faster.
The silver lining to all this is that it has been a catalyst for getting my Bilstein 6112/5160 set installed, that's been sitting in my garage for a month. Next up after that will be tires. Pretty sure I'm going to go with Toyo Open Country AT3s in the stock size.
I'll post an update when I get it back.

out of curiosity was climate control completely dead or could you run it through auto mode.

The climate display below the head unit display (either side of the clock) is not showing temp, but I was able to press the Auto button and have the light come on.
I honestly didn't mess with it much once I determined that something was wrong. Just kind of stopped touching it.
Hopefully the replacement unit is some late stage model that has Car Play and Android Auto installed!
