I'm going to have to back burner this LWB. I've got my 55 project going on right now, and I have to finish one before I start the other. I sold my soul to my wife getting this truck. I'll just put it in the driveway for now and drool:p:p:D:lol::crybaby::lol::p:hhmm::confused::whoops::cheers:

Here is what you say

"Honey the city/county has an ordinance regarding non running vehicles. The are considered abondoned and will tow them and have then crushed.

I must work on this and get it at least running and driving so we are not burdened with this law that, in some cases, is a good one.

You really don't want to be part of anything illegal do you?"

OK. So I'll work on it a little. I got to get it running and clean it up, right???

Works every time. :D

You don't know my wife. She'd have a printed copy of the ordinance waiting for me when I got home from work. The problem was that I bought it, and then told her I bought it. Anything but a 45 I wouldn,t have done it. It'll earn value quicker than my 401K! Anyway, I now own it, so life goes on.HAHAHAHAHA!!!

the Eagle has landed.

It's hear!!!
The truck just pulled away, and my new rig is at it's temp. home for now at my shop in Oceanside. I've got to put some descent rear tires on it so I can tow it home with a tow bar to clean it up a little. My 6 year old is already claiming it as his when he's old enough. Go figure. Here's a couple pics.
Later all:p

Dom,
Let me know when you can come by my shop and check it out. I'd like to get your input once you see it up close. I'm over off of Oceanside Blvd between College and Melrose.

nice

Pat, i'll have to admit, I couldnt help but bid on it too. I guess having a third 45longbed sounded good at the time. It didnt hurt that it was located in my home state. My dune beige one looked just like yours when i started and I kept it all stock. I have both a shift on floor and column and dont have a preference, with the exception of I like them to be as stock as possible. If you want a four speed or other major changes I would make the move off the column. It looks like it does have a tailgate????

Goog luck. It looks like you have something solid to start with.

Nice looking beige 45! Very motivating for me to see the before and after pics. The tailgate on mine is just a fabbed gate, not stock. I'll be looking for one if you have any ideas. I'm going to try to keep the 3 on the tree for now. I'm going for the "as stock as possible" on this rig. I have a 55 that I'm doing some mods on that will keep me busy. I don't know when I'll have time to get to work on it. I kinda promised to finish the 55 "project" before I start something else. I'll just clean it up and gather parts in the mean time. Really glad I won that auction! Did you remove your bed for sandblasting? Did you have to replace any large sections of metal? More pics would be cool.
Thanks again
Pat

45

Got this 45 from Dave in Washington. He sells a lot of 45 parts and didnt have the desire to rebuild a 45...my gain. He is a great guy and greater resource for parts. Dave is in pictures...not me. I was lucky that, after changing all fluids, the engine runs great...clutch et all. I did have the bed and gate sandblasted. I may have a tailgate.A friend has one, although frame is good, but center with letters is very rough. I put 33"" tires and had some old style hubcaps rechromed. I paid dearly for that. Still need to rebuild seats and add heater. All the rest is good.

Really Cool stuff. Do you have contact info for Mark in case I'm in need of some parts? I definitely am interested in a tailgate. I do want the letters in the middle to be good though. Do you have pics of the engine compartment or interior? My doors are pretty rough on mine. Would it be better to rebuild mine or look for descent ones to start with? Thanks again for the info and pics.

Very cool. Welcome the the elite club!

I got a set of 31" tires and rims off my 60 if you want to use them until you get the ones you want.

I was thinking of stopping by for a gander on Friday.

Mike

Mike,
thanks. I'm stoked on my purchase. I won't need tires for a while. I need to finish my 55 project before I even do a thing to the 45. I'll be here tomorrow if you're coming by. I'll probably head out for lunch around 11:30, so let me know.
See ya
Pat
