Update:
Ensured hard line feeding into tank wasn't clogged. Re-primed lines with fuel and started truck. The truck finally stayed running under its own fuel cell for the first time. Stayed running for five mins with good oil pressure, temp, and no smoke. Decided to give it a go and go for a test drive. I got about a 1/3 of a mile down the road and the truck just died.... Ran great up to that point too. Tried restarting, the truck starts idles well and after 15-20 seconds, it dies. :bang: Then, it is almost like it not getting fuel in follow on attempts to restart truck.

So, I'm guessing that I have carb issues. Not sure where to start. :bang:

celebrate that it runs.

{reserve this space for suggestion after I reread your thread}

while I'm re-reading - if you blew out the line, the sock was plugged, and that cleaned it... it would, possibly re-plug after a bit of running.... pull the pickup out...

now back to reading... brb

I'm not sure the boiling water and dawn would do much to clean scale out of your tank. I'm going to circle back and suggest the chain and solvent in the tank to really knock everything loose and give you good start. Otherwise, get another tank, and while you're doing it, replace the rubber hoses as well. Gas, by itself, will eventually eat the inside of the hose out - add the alcohol they put in gas, and it simply accelerates the process. Thus, put new lines on, keep a new filter on the line to the pump, and either remove the sock or blow with compressed air to blow a hole in the sock on the end of the fuel pickup tube in the tank....

and again, POR 15 tank coat after the solvent bath/chain slosh will make this a non-issue for pretty much ever.

oh yeah, and if you ran the truck without a filter, you can pretty much bet the carb is now solidly plugged.

I did not run the truck without the filter.

I'm going to start with carb cleaner before even thinking about taking on a rebuild. MTF. :beer:

Sounds like what my 61 was doing. Try removing the hard line from the carb, and then removing the fitting that it threads into, it should be 17mm. Be careful you don't drop the washer, I did but luckily found it. Once the fitting is removed you can use a flashlight to look inside and see if the filter is clogged. Mine was packed solid with crud.

I think your issue is still in the tank, but it's darn hard to see from here (it's dark)
Good call SBG! The bottom of the hard line feed into the tank was completely clogged. I took the hard line assembly out from the top of the tank and took ametal cclose hanger and clean gas to it. Problem solved. Buttoned everything back up and truck started right up. I took the truck out for about a two mile run. She did great and I hit 55mpg with no isuue.

Sorry.. trying to type on Droid!
