Took a stroll through u pull and pay today. Found these wheels in the office. They are sort of roughed up, Measure 15x8, and come with four 32x11.50 BFG all terrains. 2 are OK, 2 have about 10-15 K on them. 400 bucks. Good looking wheels for the price, though they really need to be painted. thought it might get somebody's project on the ground. Get in there and chew them down to 300! They are on the "out" side of the building.

I also found a bed for the tricycle, It's a 2wd bed, but the Ih8mud community assures me it will bolt up and the only problem will be my tires sticking out. Anyone got time to help me lift it on Saturday? I will get it unbolted and ready, just need some muscle to get it in the truck.

If you're willing to help, then you set the schedule. :) I was thinking I will get moving around 9 AM, 45 minutes drive, time I have it unbolted, it will be around noon. I can make it all happen earlier if need be. I think I'll get some 2x8's and set this be on top of the old one, then strap it down. Good news is, I have plenty of holes in my bed to put the strap hooks in! Going to hate to lose that feature. I might even have to start being careful about body damage...:steer:

I will heading to Black Forest early in the morning so I will be in the Springs around 10-12 if you need help. I will have my trailer with as well so if you want to put the bed on that and take to Woodland park that works for me.

A trailer sounds like a good idea. I'm not sure even how to get the bed out of there, or how many people it takes to lift it. Can't be more than 200 pounds huh? I figure they must let your pull in the yard, or maybe take it out for you on the forklift. I can't be the only one who's ever bought a truck bed, so I'm sure they've got a way.

Just put some straps or chains in the bed tie downs and use their engine hoist, just like we did with your engine. Give me a ring. Another date with Luke at the junkyard :hillbilly:

Just got off the phone with Chuck and Leon, looks like I will be heading down around 8 AM, getting to the yard between 8:30 and 8:45. Chuck will be heading back from Black forest around 9:30 or 10 to swing by and pick me up between then and lunch. Leon is working on getting there is the morning to help early, but it doesn't sound like he will stay long. I should not need too much help if I can procure an engine hoist, but the more hands the better. This is all based on if the bed is still there, my wife is convinced it will be gone. :)

Luke,
I will be working on the 40, if you need help, I can be there quick and in the right work clothing (monkey suite). Give me a call on the cell...if you don't know it I can send you a message, but I think you have it.

Oops, forgot to call you back. Checked with the boss and I' can stay until whenever.

I win!

Luke--

New (old) tires are mounted on old (old) rims and on truck--I win!

Not sleeping on the couch tonight either--pretty close tho...

BTW--look for new (old) rims & old (old) tires for sale on for sale/wanted thread.

Wow, do you know a guy that knows a guy that owns a tire shop or something??? That was pretty quick! I am a little disappointed you didn't use the new wheels though, I thought they would have looked great, but I understand... I couldn't imagine anything but the stock wheels on my 40.

Leon, Eric, and I got to the junkyard at just before 9 AM today. We were signed in and had tools loaded in the wheelbarrow and working like men on a mission shortly thereafter. We had that bed loose in maybe 20 minutes, and rolled it to the office on a wheelbarrow. That was an adventure in itself.

Eric had too much idle time and talked himself into buying those rims and tires I posted earlier, Leon and I waited for him to finish before we all collectively had to flip that truck bed on its side and carry it through the office--because supposedly they don't have a gate key on weekends. Leon and I figured we could have gotten that gate open if they would have let us.

Chuck showed up soon after and we got the bed loaded onto the trailer and off to it's new home. I had it mounted and fully bolted down by 4:15, then took time to drink beer and hook up the tail light wiring, which took much longer. The hardest part of the whole deal was getting that damn old bed off. I have never broken so many bolts getting something apart. That bed fought me like a prize fighter. I won eventually, but the cleanup was killer. Every time that impact hit, it was like rusty rain. :)

Major, major thanks to Eric, Leon, and Chuck for the help...you guys rock!

wow, looks like a new truck...congrats.

I really wanted to use the rims but they needed about 3/8 inch of spacing. In the end I decided to keep the stock look. I cleaned & painted the rims and they look awesome--hope I can craigslist them for $250 or so but that's probably dreaming.

Truck really looks great. Could use some better rims tho.....
