A buddy of mine couldn't start his 200 this morning because of a dead battery. He called me. Luckily for him, I was in town in my 200, and I used my 200 to jump start his 200 in two minutes, and he was good to go.

Then I realized that if I had been in town in my LX700h that I have owned for a few weeks, I wouldn't have known what to do. I don't even know where the battery is.

So I asked chat gpt. She said I cannot ever jump another vehicle with my LX but I can receive a jump.

I looked in the manual and see instructions to get jumped, but I don't see any prohibition or instructions on how to jump someone else.

I searched this forum but don't see any threads.

Does anyone know the deal?

Thank you,
Jared

The battery is in the rear, driver side. I can’t imagine why you wouldn’t be able to jump another vehicle. Also, NOCO is your friend.

Is the battery location different in the 700 vs 600? In my 600 it's located under the hood on the passenger side under a plastic cover.

700h is hybrid so they moved it to the trunk. Whole new world.

That's what I assumed, but had no idea until today. Still better than a Mercedes battery being under the passenger seat. Are there jump terminals under the hood though?

2nd the NOCO jumper box, I don’t leave home without it.

Also, I see no reason you can’t use the 700h to jump another rig. I use that 12v for tire inflation with no issues.

I would think the battery was just relocated to the back. Still a regular 12v car battery. Just back up, pop the trunk and hook the cables, as opposed to approach with the front of the car and pop the hood. Hell, with the hybrid I wonder if you could jump it with the outlet in the back, assuming there is such a tool...that would be cool.

Yeah, that's why I was wondering if there are jumper terminals under the hood. My wife's car has the battery under the passenger seat, but it's got a positive terminal and negative post under the hood so you can jump (or jump someone else) from there. I would think the 700 would have something similar, no?

Yes there are terminals under the hood, but If I recall they are for jumping the LX and not other cars.

+1 on the NOCO jumper pack. It's like $99 or less and very reliable. Used mine for years.

Ok. I have ordered a noco pack. I bought the big one for 250usd. I would still like to know if I am allowed to jump from the vehicle, however.

Yep. Drivers side rear, under an easy to open panel. The engine compartment lx600 battery location has all the complicated electronics for the hybrid system.

Is it permitted to jump from the battery to another car in LX700h?
