Joining the 40 club what is its factory color?

Hey gurus. Well I just purchased a 40. Runnin n drivin. Dk what direction I'm going yet. Prob just wheeler. But curious. The vin tag says Oct 77. Which would make it '78 correct? The model tag vin matches the production tag. but gives paint code 416 which is dune beige. All the literature I've found only lists 416 till 75. And there's remnants of what looks like free born red. Can you guys enlighten me ?

A google search of '1977 Dune Beige' brings up a lot of results, quite possible the resources have it wrong. Your frame number is definitely late '77, the tag looks genuine, and it definitely says 416.

My mustard '75 has a paint code of 531 which is slightly different than the 532 offered '76 and beyond. Most of the online resources don't show 531 ever being offered on a 40.

yea but nothing special the tub is a bit rough . got some nice mechanical upgrades. Not original color

Kinda what I was thinking. I figured there is more knowledge than mine. If that is the case would love to know the Oct'77 production numbers with 416 paint code. And is the frame number in front of Right side shock tower? and should be the same as the vin number in a perfect world correct? Its not very visible and probably sealed over

The frame# is on the side of the right frt frame horn, between the bumper and front bib. Its the only # that counts. At a minimum the frame # and the vin # on the title should be the same.
