Joining the 1UZ-FE club

So after years of telling myself I would never stray from the reliability and ease of service of the 22RE, I couldn't resist this 1993 LS400 for $700. My conundrum now is do I put it in my 85 4Runner or my 89 2WD pickup? The 22RE I built for my 4Runner back in 2009 has only about 30k miles, has the typical mods (cam, header, late model TB/plenum, 2.25" exhaust), and gets the job done nicely on the trails. My 2WD pickup is already torn apart to run the body harness for an EFI swap. I love the idea of a sleeper 2WD 1UZ/W58 but the power of a V8 off road is so tempting.

That's a pretty tough choice to make... It's like choosing which kid to give super powers...

I thought it would be sweet to have a 1 or 2JZ in a 4th gen 2wd tacoma. Although the 1UZ would be pretty neat too.

V8 off road can cause problems with axles and other things breaking. But the same problems can occur in the 2wd.

Stick it in the 89. Beef up the rear axle any fry peoples' minds with it.
