JDM License Plate Holder on US 80

It certainly could be made to fit a flat surface. Would require you to remove two 3" tower like mounts though. You would loose one of the mounting studs and a plastic clip.

Just another bit of info... the license plate itself WILL come in contact with the Slee rear bumper latch plate (on top of the rear bumper) when the tailgate is completely open. (see 1st pic in post #6). I have not figured out a sure fix this yet. The only thing I can think of is to remove the plate and shave/grind down the bottom of the plate by a milimeter or two and reinstall. To be honest though, I am ok with it for now.

Move that latch plate to the bottom of the swing out and put the stainless steel plate onto the top of the bumper with double-sided tape.

Thanks Beowulf! That's a great idea. I will fix that this weekend.

Thank Cruiserdan, he told me how to fix it when he installed my license bracket.

80t0ylc - My Cruiser is in the shop getting a new head right now but that's another story but I can get some measurements when I get it back on Fri. or Sat. though........
Have you got your Cruiser back, yet? I'm just trying to find out if this JDM Relocator would clear the Kaymar with the tailgate open. The pic shows what I'm worried about. The minimum space between tail gate and bumper you can see is 5/8" or about 16 mm. The thickness of rubber gasket and plastic frame at that point would determine if I will have clearance problems or not.

Beowulf - I have the plastic piece on the top of the bumper with the two 3/8" flat 7/32 Hex head bolts but no stainless steel piece and there is nothing on the bottom of the swing out. Maybe my plastic piece is thicker than you and Dan's.
The piece doesn't appear to be needed on mine as it clamps up nice and tight with no rattles. Although, their is a gap.
Unfortunately, my drilled holes on the swing out got a bit elongated so ended up tapping the holes to 7/16" 14 instead. I knew I shoud have taken it off and used a drill press. Oh well, I will have to get some 7/16" flat tapered bolts at the hardware store this week.

80toylc - Here are some pics. I'm not sure if it will work with yours but these may help. It appears that the thickness of the bracket, plate and plate holder is 3/4 to 7/8".

Even after removing my latch plate on top of my Slee bumper the inborad plate tab & bracket still touch the top of the bumper and the driver side tailgate support won't fully extend. I guess I will just have to put another washer or two in between my bumper to frame mounting bolts. There is already two on each plus two shims. I hope the rear receiver bolt holes are elongated and allow for adjustment so that I can still have my trailer hitch.

Thank you SCFZJ80!!! Your efforts just saved me some $ and headaches. From your pics I could determine:

1. My Kaymar top plate sits about the same height as your Slee. With tailgate closed, I also have 1 1/4" between bottom of tailgate and top surface of Kaymar. There might be some adjustment, but will look into it later.
2. Thickness of assembled relocator would cause it to hit on top of bumper each time tailgate is fully opened. I sure don't need the aggravation. Many thanks for your help. I just hope getting these measurements also helped you out.

I think I'll pass on the JDM holder for now.

I "think" the GX model with the barn doors came with something that might work. (The curviture might be a bit different between them and the lift-up doors, but nothing that you should not be able to work with).

I want barn doors!

The light is still available, but the plate holder is not. I was able to find one here on Mud as a complete assembly, so I have a light if anyone is interested. The plate holder is impaooible to find - I just got lucky. All in it as $180, but worth it.
