Nope. All the aftermarket electric mirrors only have 3 wires going to them, and the folding mirrors have 7. The same is true of the genuine Toyota part. I rang the local dealership and gave them the VIN# and they told me my car was an Australian compliance car - I'd always thought it was a Japanese import. The thing that had puzzled me for years is that it has a GXL badge, but is essentially Sahara spec - it had all the Sahara appointments except for factory locking diffs (which I have now fitted). The bloke I spoke to told me that they were all options when you ordered a GXL.Your local Toyota dealer perhaps. Australian eBay has sets of aftermarket mirrors too
But folding mirrors weren't. They weren't available in Australia, and only the japanese domestic market. So why does my car have them? I have no idea.
I downloaded the workshop manual and chased up the wiring diagram. The manual only has circuitry for the non=folding mirrors, corresponding to the three pin plug on the mirrors. But here's the interesting part - the mirror switch has 10 wires coming out of it. For the 3-pin mirrors (non-folding), only 7 of the 10 wires are used. 3 of the wires are unused. These 3 evidently are for the folding and unfolding, and my switch has electrical connectors for all 10 wires.
So I have one folding and one non-folding mirror. The LH side is original, and the RH side is not. It was on the car when I bought it, and for some reason (I can't remember) I replaced it a while ago, not knowing that the wiring was different.
So now I'm chasing a RHS folding mirror. It's not available from Toyota, and they don't even list it as a part (in Australia).
Maybe it's available in Japan? Maybe I could contact Toyota Australia and get them to chase it up with Japan? Or maybe, just maybe, there is a second-hand one somewhere in the world....
