Gives 'Yea, Road Trip!' a whole new meaning. Bummer, sorry to hear such misery. Last time I saw double digit rollovers was 2012 from Lake Louise to Revelstoke. Take it easy, J

Gawd what a day.

Don't know what sucked more..... yesterday's boarder fiasco or today's white knuckle snow storm near death experience(s).

A huge snow storm hit between Portland and Eugene and we were in the middle of it. Spent over an hour at a dead stop while brainless truckers who chose not to chain up spun out on a snowy climb clogged the interstate. Cars in the ditch all over, whiteout conditions. I stopped counting the rollovers after I hit double digits.

We only clocked up the better part of 800kms today. Stopped just after the last (and highest) mountain pass just inside California. Snow seems to have passed, thank Jays driving skills and the Laws of Physics for keeping us safe, even while Jay-bob drifted the overloaded Dodge sideways at 90 odd Kph three wide in a tight snow covered turn. Seriously though.... something saved our asses on that one, poo was coming out one end and profanity out the other. My bad Jesus, didn't mean to swear like that.

Speaking of poo, some questionable dietary choices have led us to frequent far more rest stops than anyone would like to admit. Tomorrow has got to be better.

I only snapped one pic, Jay has a lot more. A northbound big rig spun and jack knifed blocking the north bound lane. Traffic was at a stand still for 8 miles.

Have I ever mentioned how much I hate snow? Ecstatic I stayed home now.

Glad you didn't get maimed and dead in the snow storm. Sewing legs back on in a US hospital would seriously cut into the cruiser fund.

Did you edit the quote? How dare you!? Laws of physics had nothing to do with it. Wizards will get you.

Well, we finally made it back to the island. The border crossing was a lot easier this time. It has been some what a rough day due to the fact that last night was the first time this trip that we actually relaxed, so we lit it up at a pub in Port Angeles.

I did some combing over the rig today and you will see the reason for this insane trip.

NO RUST, or very limited.

Well, i guess with a rig that clean we'll never see him on the trails :(

Sprung over, lockers, 37s....

Im am sure this rig will see some duty time on the trails grasshopper...

Jay is no idiot on the trails, but he will try most obstacles..

Jay's new truck is really clean. FWIW I was amazed the 3F and the slush box could do interstate speeds! (well most of the time) All we did was top up the fluids, buy a used spare tire and throw some wiper blades on. We used the metal bits from the old wiper blades to make a makeshift FM antenna and we were off to the races.

Heck we had more problems with my truck.... blown bulbs etc. It also developed a rather alarming clunking noise in the front end, found it today and luckily just had to add a washer and tighten the upper control arm bolts. Phew! (Free fix!)

Packing the 1HZ's, trans(s) and transfer cases south was quite a payload so she got an oil change, filters and good greasing. Clutch will be next when I can pony up the $1200. (thats without labour) :bang:

Georg at Valley Hybrids let us crash on his couches and even bought us dinner. He had another motor to go North (not across the boarder north) and payed our fuel to Seattle!

Thanks Georg!

This 60 series will be a Bad A** build.
