Interesting Toyota recommends not removing the entire body. An aftermarket outfit down under removed the 300 quite easily

looks like a different engine, trans, non hydraulic suspension, no rear ac, and less plastic body work than an LX600.

First long block I’ve seen.

Some were, depends when the truck was built.
Mine was built in April 2023, delivered in May 2023, and is outside of the recall.
I did oil changes at 5K, 10K, and 18K. Sent in the 18K oil to Blackstone labs and everything came back looking good.
Ill probably send in one more sample to Blackstone in a year or so for peace of mind.

Thanks! So, December 2022 production date an up should be good. At least for now. To be safe, I would restrict my search for pre-owned ones to only manufactured in 2023.
It all depends on the manufacture date, I wouldn’t bet against iDec and up. If you find an LX you like, grab the vin and put it into the recall data base to see if it’s in or out of the recall parameters.

There was some conjecture laid out by Car care nut, that all V35s were changed to the hybrid block starting around Jan 24. The issue with that theory was that some new cases of failure are from this fixed batch as well. I would follow the Tundra forums website, as they have a larger sample size and really post alot of more about this anyone else.

That being said, I would wager that they have this figured out and solved when the 700h comes to dealer lots. It would not make sense for them to release their top notch product with said defect.

Tundra.

I’m getting the procurement vibe that says LXs will get Japanese engines and US-manufactured toasters will get Alabama engines.
Good. Thanks for the clarification. I hope for the best for everyone on this rollout.

That's like the bare minimum. Talk about hosing someone selling them a JP build and (on top of the shame of replacing the engine), giving them a US-made one. Ouch.

The resale values are holding VERY strong. worst case scenario get the engine then dump it.

No. The engine I took pictures of is for the Tundra made in San Antonio.

LXs will get Japanese engines since the LX is manufactured at Yoshiwara.

I am not sure why it would matter.
Weren't those 'million mile' 2UZ's made in Alabama?

Yup, for all the social media driven hysteria about Toyota reliability and these engines being "junk" it certainly doesn't reflect in the resale values for the LX's under recall.
