Thanks...but I am think I am gonna drill and put 1" grade 8 bolts in!!!!!............ Seriously, I am gonna drill and go with the 3/8" grade 8 bolts, see how this works. If it doesn't work..... I am selling it!!!!

Something is working loose in there to break the pin. It has to be.

I have only broken spring pins:

a) when the Ubolts get loose

b) when I ran shims which, in-turn, caused the Ubolts to work loose.

Aluminum shims are the Devil, steel only slightly better. I say we cut and turn that thing and get the angle right and improve the road-ability at the same time. My buddy Richard is getting quite fast at this and we could easily do it in a weekend.

Funny....I thought the whole time it was the rear since he flipped the lifted springs and would need those shims.

Only in the rear can you cut and reweld the perches only.

If you are running shims in the front, just take those bitches out. I don't think you have a very aggressive shackle that it will make that much difference in caster.

If you are going to the trouble of cut/turn I would do a shackle reversal too....I like the approach angle and ride with a well done reversal.
 
if you redo the perches you're gonna have to CNT

i say go with grade 9 bolts for the spring pins. start with hex bolts and run them in a lathe or a drill and machine/grind the heads down so they're round and a smaller diameter.

also, tighten and then re-tighten the u-bolts. usually broken pins are caused by loose u-bolts like nolen mentioned.

I've never broke a caster shim when I had LC axles on my junk. This was with 2.5" OME springs and 36" tires.
I made sure the axle ubolts were very very tight.

I'd go with some steel caster shims and grade 9 spring pin before doing a cut and turn.

Probably about 15 yards from it at the pool. That's where I would be.Beer in hand of course. Cranked and drove mine today for the first time since Moab. Gonna clean it up tomorrow so I can drive it to the meeting I guess.
