Fine welding:clap:...........X 2 with "eventhough" on rust prevention..hate to have to do it again..........keep the pix coming..........we all benefit from the rebuild......

Lou

I have looked around and have not been able to find pictures of the rear body mounts from underneath. My rear body is sitting on my frame, and I am going to need to rebuild that section and am not sure what it is supposed to look like. Thanks. Also I just built a sheet metal brake, and am going to be fixing the part above the 2 x 4 rockers this week.

here is the progress I've made in the past few weeks.

I cut out the part of the fire wall, and have cut a piece to replace it.

tell me if this is a bad idea, but I am replacing the rear mount with a 2x4 tubing. I haven't welded it up yet, just needed something to hold up the rear end until I figure out what to do with the rear seal. I was wondering if the tension bar in the rear, that goes under the door and attaches to the hinge, is really necessary. What does it do?

Even though it doesn't look like it I got a lot of work done.

Here are a few pictures of the front mount I rebuilt. I have the fire wall rebuilt. and am starting to put the floor back in, but need to get the body panel glue and clecos that I ordered to hold the body together before I glue and rivet it.

I figured out how to align the doors and they all shut fine. The body is squared now, and I just have to get the floor in, and start on the other side. I've learned a lot of lessons on this side and the other side won't take very long.

Also I need to know how wide of an opening there is for the radiator. I had to replace the front brace that holds the whole front clip together, and forgot to measure the width between where the radiator attaches.

I was able to work on it today. Here are a few pictures.

The fire wall turned out well, I just need to paint it.
I started on the passenger side of the truck and decided not to just start cutting. I cut one thing out and replaced it. I think this will turn out better because I will not have to deal with the door alignment issue that took me so long to get figured out on the drivers side. I have had to lap weld a few things, and am worried about the rust coming back eventually, but I will paint it up well and try to seal it up so that it will not get water in it. I am going to paint everything with POR 15 when I have a day that is warm enough and not snowing.
After I get the door seals rewelded I will start with the floor and then move to the door post. I liked the way the drivers side turned out, but just need to weld a piece to fill the holes in the place that I had to recess for the hinges.
Thanks for watching, and any advice is appreciated.

One more thing

If you ever have to do sheet metal work, you should invest in some Clecos. the are great for holding sheet metal together until you are ready to weld. I can't tell you how much help they have been.
