Is this the alternator you used?
To add to the general knowledge base, I bought my alternator from Amazon seller "Crank -n- Charge" in 2011.

Whom are you addressing this question to?

I think that's the alternator Creeker used. The part of his post that reads "I bought my alternator from Amazon seller "Crank -n- Charge..." suggests that the text that follows those words may be related to the item purchased. He will have to confirm to be sure.

If you're referring to the ebay link, that doesn't work. I used the alternator that's referenced in my post, and it's been running successfully for 2 years. Way better than the original (for a 24V system) which killed a battery every 6 mos or so.

The external regulator, IIRC, is mounted to the alternator. You unplug and remove the original alternator (with external regulator), install the new alternator (with internal regulator). Splice new plug (see above) to existing wires and plug it in. That's about it. Oh, and shim existing pulley to fit new shaft or buy a new pulley.

Creeker,
My vehicle is a 75fj40 which I'm converting to diesel . I will be installing a 2h mtr. I have an existing external voltage regulator on the 75fj40 vehicle. The new 12 volt alternator has a built in voltage regular. What do I do with the existing external voltage regulator and the relate wiring in and out of this external regulator?

Also why won't this alternator work---http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Isuzu-N...Parts_Accessories&hash=item233ba9ac24&vxp=mtr

This alternator is for Isuzu NPR Truck 5.7L Alternator 93 94 95 96 97 which matches the alternator that you used?
I appreciate all your help. Thx

What Rufus said. And as I said, IIRC, my 12HT's original alternator's external regulator was mounted on the alternator itself, and so came off with the alternator. I know of no more extensive wiring changes than simply splicing a new plug to existing wires. The 2H may be a different animal, in which case, I can't help you.

I think a 1975 FJ40 will likely have a voltage regulator mounted on the firewall in the engine bay, at least in the stock configuration.

And for Mike, you have posted in threads here on Mud within the past few days that provide diagrams and instructions on wiring one of these NPR/Hitachi style alternators into a Cruiser. You have also posted in threads that have clearly described the physical mounting issues that need to be addressed. if you're looking for someone to tell you cut the blue wire on connector A pin 1 and attach it to pin 3 of connector B you're not likely to find the answer here.

If you're referring to the ebay link, that doesn't work.

To clarify for the thread, I'm referring to the LINK not the alternator here. I have no comment on whatever alternator that the link was supposed to reference. Here's one last pic of the new vs old from a 12HT. I replaced the new pulley and vacuum fitting with the originals.

I can't help with the fit on a 3b part, but they are common and readily available in US

Any of you cats live around Austin and want to make a few extra bucks getting one of these done for me!!!!!!!!???????
Are you just needing the bracket for your B? Any machine shop in town should be able to make you one. Maybe even modify your existing mount.

Updating a very old thread but...

I bought one of these NPR alternators to upgrade my cummins alternator, or rather vacuum pump system. Mine is the 110 amp unit and I’m looking at bolting it on the first gen (1991) 6BT.

I believe a fella in the club has a 3B alternator that he’s going to bring over time compare, I will get some measurements for anyone considering the swap.

One big and major question; the Isuzu Alt has ports for oil feed and return, the cummins does not. Can I feed from a tee at the block that feeds the turbo, should I feed from the turbo to this or do I need to figure something else out?

Don't feed from the turbo the oil is hotter , if you feed before with a tee not sure how to check that you have enough flow to both with out some way to if there is back pressure at the tee
