Issues starting a 1HZ

strange, my 1HZ will start even without the gow plugs at those temps (i have my glows wired to a momentary toggles switch). Rough idle and smoke is common for a cold diesel until it warms up. If I use my glows though it smooths out/stops smoking almost instantly. the glow plugs would be a good place to start but I would think it should atleast start at those temps without them. Maybe try bleeding the injectors as well?

You do not have the bleed the injection system. These things will self bleed once fired. Only worry would be a vacuum leak.
Then again his does start...glow system check is in order.
