welded nut...

Ah.... that's the single nut that is used on trucks with auto locking hubs, someone swapped to manuals and didn't pony up to get the right hardware to do the swap... and without the auto hub, that nut will not stay tight, so they welded it.... I guess it's not going to come off though is it... Looks welded pretty good. Scary none the less...

yea it does look pretty scary... but its an 87 tho... i thought auto hubs started out on trucks from the early 90's, not the late 80's... i mean correct me if im wrong

Pretty sure a lot of the late 80's 4Runners had them........ a luxury for the runners? I don't recall seeing a lot of older pickups with them.

yes it does have manual hubs... and thanx for the help... im gonna write this down and keep it safe in the trucks center console.. and if theres anymore parts not listed here please let me know

I think that is everything you will need minus all the hardware you already have on the hub.

You will probably want a brass punch or hammer also to get the cone washers out of the hub.

This will get you most of the way there Toyota 4WD Front-end Maintenance - Disassembly - ORN
Definitely peruse the FSM........a couple times.

i have a lead hammer, idk... the cone washers actually come out on their own... and i actually need a new gear thing... sorry for my lame attempt with names... but its the one piece inside the hub that stays in place on the half shaft, that sits and stays in the hub.. and sorry for bein a pain, but i wanna get this done right you know...now as for the gear piece... where should i go to find one of them?? again sorry for tryin to discribe things and somewhat failing... and i will certainly look thru that fsm quite a few times

Lead hammer? Well it would be soft enough but damn man wear a glove handling that SOB.

The hub gear is toast?
Are the cv splines also toast?

The FSM has great pics like this....

for a 93' but exactly the same.

I would looking at the junk yard for the spindles/steering knuckles.

thats it, hub gear... yea, one of them is toast... the slot where the clip is supposed to be is no longer there, except for a small half inch section of it is left... but the splines are fine... and as for the junk yards, im gonna have a fun time with that... my location has very very very very few toyota trucks in the junkyard, but i will look, otherwise ill find that one junk yard on here and see what happens... and i will definalty wear gloves with that hammer
