I have yet to see one where the check valve inside the charcoal canister is operational: every single one has been corroded to the point where vapor pressure builds up in the gas tank.

I haven't done it yet, but I had the idea of installing an inline check valve between the tank and the canister, and drilling out through the canister port, that check valve. Toyota still sells the check Valve that does just this for the 40 series.

I inherited a few 1982 FJ40 take-off parts. I wonder if what you seek is in one of these photos? I have some other items too, front/rear bumpers, roll bar.
