I paid $3500 for mine (stock) with new 31" BFG AT's back in 2007. I can't count how much i've spent since then. A rig similar to mine sold recently nearby for about 6,500. There is an '86 ifs in town that a guy wants, get this, 14,500 for.
similar to yours now for 6500, or when it was stock... do you have pics of it

how about a 85 runner with this build, they want $5900.00

The 2nd sounds great to me. I would go with it as long as it had regular doors or get regular doors. I would also get rid of that spool and put an autolocker in if you are going to drive it on the road a lot.

cool thanks for the feed back , this one here for 5900 might be the one , if I took that stock truck that I was going to buy and put in marlin dual casses lift , cross over steer, new tires 5.29 gearing , that would cost alot . yeah he said the doors and top are on it.. so I should go with the built rig ?

Pictures never tell the whole story. Go check it out and take someone with you. Make sure front locker works. Hopefully the rear isn't welded. If it's a good buy then you may save a little money and definitely a lot of time. Be meticulous, hard saying how much skill was put into building it. Take someone with you who knows a bit. There are plenty of members in your area.

Check them both anyway and make sure they lock. Check welds (like on the front shock mounts and steering box plate and make sure they have good penetration. You might find something and still want it and can use what you found as a negotiation point.

is that a gold color rare

They made it in 84 and 85 and it was the color of one of the 4runners on the brochure for 84. Here's my story on buying mine back and it will also give you an idea of what these sold for during the summer of 2007.

My truck is not perfect, but I get compliments on it all of the time, for the color, the condition, and the mods.

Here's the link to how I bought it back 10 years later:

Anyone buy back a truck you sold 10 years ago? - YotaTech Forums

It was rust free, new engine, loaded, locked front and rear, 4.88's, very new 35 BFG Muds, front and rear bumpers and sliders, and soft and hard tops included.
I was buying my old truck back,sO I was willing to pay more for truck. I think he wanted $6500 for it, and people on yotatech were buzzing about it.
After I realized that it was indeed my old truck, we negotiated and I paid $5800 for it, and I bought the burgers and beer after we switched out the tops. I also had to fly up and drive it back to TX.

Even though I have done crossover steering, added some tube work, put a performance head on it and a few other things, I don't think I could sell it for more than $5K. Its in the same condition as 3 years ago, but its just a buyers market right now.

There are so many good deals on the boards for built rigs. Its quite sad, but that's the reality.

Good luck with your search, and let us know what you come up with.
