Drive it over and straighten it out at sean's--sounds like there may be too much beer for the few people that'll be there. Might need help!

Well, looks like my workload for tomorrow just lightened. One of the ujoints for the rear shaft showed up without the bearings. Won't get another one until Monday or Tuesday. No point in taking the rear shaft off. 
I'll still be there, fo sho, to learn and break, er, help, on other stuff--my truck just won't take long to finish!

wow... that stinks. Did you order though American Toyota? I also placed an order this past week, with Cruiserdan on vacation. I also ordered rear joints. My plan was to tear into my DS and see if they need replacing. If I don't use mine, you could certainly use them.

No, I waited too long for that--ordered through Faulkner on Paxton Street. The box came in damaged and the bearings were missing. Just had the spider and the circlips. I should've had you throw a set on your order for me!

I think im gonna try the 12 ton press first.
If there is that much beer I would be completely worthless anyway. I'm bad around alcohol without adult supervision

I don't qualify as an adult either, but I do have a 12 ton press and a rose bud. You should read your toyota trails(you are a member, right) Your suppose to use a tree to fix that.

Seems I still have an 80 in my garage.
Tried to leave Rob's 3rd in to do the pinion bearing, but that takes a specialized puller. So we pulled the third. Found the pinion bearings are fine, carrier bearings are beat. Not an item that anyone has in stock.
So the parts are on their way.

It was a pretty light crowd. Brett showed with his 80 and was stumped by his rusty LSPV
That thing is FROZEN with rust! One of the studs broke, so he left sleeping dogs lie
Dave showed up for a couple of hours to take it all in.
As Sean mentioned above, I was hoping we could get that outer pinion seal and bearing out without having to remove the entire diff, but it was no dice
The Toyota SST for that job is one strange looking gig. Once we started pulling things apart, is was pretty apparent that the pinion bearing doesn't appear to be the culprit of my noisy diff, but one of the carrier bearings! It seems to have worn a nice groove into one of the races. Of course, trying to find a carrier bearing for an 80 on a Saturday was impossible. Sean and Kelly used their contacts at a local parts store to get the bearings in for Tuesday (and at a great price:shotts: ) I have been reading the last couple of days about setting backlash, etc... looks like fun 
We managed to get new ujoints in the rear driveshaft, also. Hopefully we will get mommy's mall cruiser back together Tuesday afternoon.

This was an incredible day, and I learned lots from Brett and Sean. I would love to plan another day (I promise to leave my truck at home). We have some guys in the group with some pretty incredible mechanical skills.

What the heck happened to Klunky?
As Rob said, had a light turn-out. Dave showing up with his 60 was a nice surprise. Man, I like 60s. And it was a pretty good thing that I had gotten my front driveshaft and front pinion oil seal sorted out before the tech day, given the way Rob's truck progressed, or, umm, I mean, regressed.
I wired power to my CB (now I need an antenna), installed the sway bar drops (doesn't even rate part of a
) and then wrestled with the LSPV for a while until I got to the point of having to order new parts. oops.
Sean knows a ton and it was great watching and learning. Rob's family showed up with lunch (mmmm .. . . burgers with bacon and cheese) and over all, it was a good day! Kind of a bummer we couldn't get the third member reassembly done--that would have been really interesting. But hopefully the diagnosis by overhaul will take care of Rob's drivetrain noises.
I checked out the Truggy up close--that exo looks stout! I was amazed how little it showed the roll-over it already took.
It was a fun day. Hopefully next time we can get a bigger crowd!

sorry i missed it!
