is my carb undersized for 2F?

Bummer! Computers are great when they work and cooperate, but when they don't...
Text them to me if you can; it'll be awhile before I'll be putting the weber back on but I'd like to see that vent you've developed, and the shaft roller bearings too.
Good luck with your cantankerous computer!

Yep, sometimes it's good to just shoot a computer!

I've figured out some things on the backfire. I'm still out of town working, so I had my mechanic at my shop pull the head today. I haven't seen it but he said there are at least 4, or possibly 5 or 6 burned valves, both intake and exhaust. Also, the cylinders show ring wear at the top groove; he can feel it which tells me that it's at least .003 - .004". Definitely a valve job is in her near future, and most likely, I'll just go ahead and do a major overhaul. It's not a difficult engine to rebuild (I've done 3), it's fairly cheap, and then I'll know exactly what I have.
So now I need some feedback: I'll shave the head a small amount, maybe .020", add seals to the valve guides, bore it if necessary to whatever, hopefully no more than .020", and grind the crank if it needs it. Anyone out there running chrome rings? I've had good luck with them on low rpm engines but unsure for this app.
Not trying to build a dragster, just a good strong power horse.
I welcome any suggestions, opinions, comments and feedback :)

I always yank the head and do the quick mechanic test - since there's no load on the valve springs I just shoot brake cleaner into the ports with the head laying on it's side , you'll know which valves are leaking quick . Glad you got some idea of what was causing the issue , I hate having to argue with someone blaming a carb as it's usually the first thing the get blamed and many times the last thing causing the problem . Webers by nature are sensitive and since they are totally mechanical all things must work as a system , remove one factor and things don't work correctly .

Like my stupid pc , turned out it was a sporadic video card - made in China .....

I'll try to post up a set of instructions/pics on that vent here in the next few days , need to get a few things done first before winter really shows up here .

Didn't even need to do a fluid leak test; he could plainly see at least 4 valves not seating and leaking...
Now going to search threads for folks running chrome rings, shaved heads and such.
Thanks Sarge, Pinhead, Fj40jim and others for your invaluable help!
PS Sarge, just shoot it!
