Hello! I just bought an 06 LX in Southern California over the weekend. The car has 166k well maintained miles on it.

I think I have only a one thing it needs immediately - the safety latch for the hood. Actually on my test drive the hood came up while I was driving, actually a pretty terrifying thing to have happen. I was sitting with a mechanic in the car and he mentioned someone must have not latched the hood down properly, but upon further inspection the hood safety catch was missing. Once we got the hood secured down properly I didn't have any issues, but I still need to get that safety catch so that something like that doesn't happen again! Does anyone know the part number?

I’m no help with the hood safety catch, but welcome! That’s a nice clean LX!

Enter your VIN number and it will take you to a collection of exploded views

I keep a pdf of my Vehicle Specification Details (provided by Toyota) on my desktop so
I can copy/paste my VIN in any time I need it.

This is for my '99 but you get the idea...

All those numbers listed in the illustration are hot-linked to the item's P/N listed to the left.

You could also look for used, this guy (Steve I think) in Lehi, UT specializes in 80's and 100's

Hmmm… Not to be a downer but IMO the only reason why it would be missing is because it wasn’t replaced after front end damage was repaired. Look at the front very closely for signs of collision.
