Introducing my 98 4Runner DD.

Here is the remote that came with the 4Runner. The battery was dead so I put a new one in it and it didn't do much. I think it made the alarm go off, but not much else, no lock or unlock, so I took the battery out and it is laying on the bar now.

I am open to any input

That remote is for the RS3000 model. Check around the nets for the installation instructions and/or the manual etc or other info. There's instructions on how to program a new remote or change the way the doors lock... try some of those steps and see if yours reacts correctly. Also, they're usually pretty specific to model and year so make sure you find stuff for your year 4runner.

I've just installed the RS3200 in my Tacoma and I believe the dash port is both an LED and a sensor but I know the Glass Break Sensor is a totally different piece....

Also, it could be a screwed up remote. Do you have just the one remote? You could test using another remote. They're about $30-40 on EBAY or Craigslist.

If you really don't care for it though, I'd say just pull from the dash and zip tie it up behind somewhere.

Thanks for the input. I have no idea what you just said  I will have to do some reading up on that stuff. For now I will probably just unplug it and put it under the console until I decide if I will try to revive it or just let it lie. This is the newest vehicle I have personally owned and I don't much about power anything, let alone keyless entry and alarms.

I went ahead and ordered the Blue Sea Safety Hub 100 and an 80 Amp MIDI fuse to complete my stereo install. I also have a few feet of 1/0 wire to power it and some expandable sleeving to clean up and protect everything.

Also, just a heads up to anyone with leather anything, Shane recommended lexol leather conditioner and it is good stuff. I wiped down the rear seats yesterday and it totally changed to look. They are much richer looking than they were. Definitely recommend it. Heck I am even thinking about hitting our couch with it to see how it does.

Stay tuned.

I personally have no idea how those Toyota factory alarms integrate... but from seeing some installs, I would think that you could completely remove it and run a better aftermarket alarm anyway.

Well, I got my Passenger seat pulled yesterday to start swapping the leather and was going to work on it tonight, but got side-tracked working on the 80. Got GSMTR next month and I have a long list of to-do's that need to be taken care of. Anyway, my fuse block and primary cable got here today.

The Blue Sea unit is really nice, so much so that I am probably going to order a second on for the 80.

It has slots for 3 MIDI fuses, 30A - 200A and slots for 4 ATO/ATC fuses 1A - 20A.

I have an 80A MIDI that will power my AMP and Bass-link and I have one of the ATC slots slated for my LED bar, and then I still have plenty left for other goodies. With the 1/0 I am good for up to 180A so I have plenty of room to grow. Maybe an inverter for the rear in the future.

Oil Pressure Gauge

Has anyone added an aftermarket oil pressure guage to their 4Runner or Tacoma. I hate idiot lights becasue they only tell you when you already have a problem. In my other trucks I have an oil pressure guage in the factory dash, may not be the best, but there is something comforting about watching it rise and knowing that you are building pressure in the system.

Crappy cell pic of the passenger front with the new leather installed. Got the bun warmers in and will be using two more of those fuses in that new block to feed them.

Shrockworks Shipping Notification

I got a call today from Shrockworks to let me know that they would be shipping my new front bumper the end of this week.:bounce::bounce2:
Lucky for me the timing is great since I just got back from GSMTR and the 80 can stand to chill for a few days while I get this beast painted and mounted up. Oh :censor: I need to get some spacers ordered to make sure the front doesn't rub any more than it already does.

Still need to get the wiring installed for the Amp and the rest of my audio upgrades finished up and make preparations for the installation of my LED light bar.

I only thought I was getting caught up. And does anyone know if the dark grey metallic used as an accent color for the cladding and flares on 96-98 4Runners has a color code? I plan to try and color match the front bumper to the trim color.

Pictures coming soon.

Well, after over 2 weeks and UPS Freight losing the crate, in Nashville for 5 days, I got the call today from them to schedule delivery.

Bumper will be delivered Monday between 3 and 5. I found out the dark grey metallic that is on my flares is Toyota code 156 and was only used for 3 years on 4Runners. I will be doing some priming and prepping and hope to bum some time, or a compressor from someone to get the base and clear on it soon.

SHROCKWORKS is in the House

Well actually it is in the garage. I finally took delivery of my Shrockworks front bumper today. :bounce::bounce2: I had it shipped in bare steel and I plan to paint it to match my cladding and flares. I plan to paint the back side with some flat or semi-gloss black and then do a base/clear on the shell to match the 4Runner.

It looks like a beast and I am probably going to have to get some spacers or new struts up front to help carry the extra weight.

On to the pictures. These are from my wife since I am at work. I will try to get some better ones tonight when I get home.

Yeah, I know. I PM'd a guy about a used front lift, I will see if he still has it or not. If not then I am probably gonna go for some spacers until I can save up for some new coilovers.

Working on a set of 99 coils and struts which will hopefully give me about 1"+ of lift up front, and I am looking at a set of ToyTec top billet spacers to throw on top of the struts to get a good height up front and then I can add a trim packer out back to level things out once I have the full weight on the front to see how it sits.

So much for trying to keep this one stock. :grinpimp:

OEM = stock enough to me. And spacers/trim packers are just enhancing your stock setup. :grinpimp:

I still consider my rig to be "stock" too.

EDIT:

If these are the spacers you're talking about, I agree that they would be perfect: http://www.toyteclifts.com/index.ph...tegory_id=127&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=72

If you're feeling stingy... Get some aluminum and cut the spacers out yourself! That's what I'm doing for mine to replace the plastic spacers.

And from my experience, don't exceed 3/4" in top spacers on these rigs. Those Toytec ones look to be 1/2" which is great.

Good point! I like the way you think :)

And yep those are the spacers I am looking at. I figure between the Highlander suspension and that spacer I should get a solid 1" out front, maybe a shade more. The guy I am buying them from said he had consistently measured 21.5" wheel center to fender which would actually give me about 1.5" without the bumper so the spacer plus the bumper should land me 1"-1.5" over where I sit today. That should also take care of my little rub on the passenger side.

Well I got some filler/primer today and while rummaging around I found a dark shadow grey duplicolor can that looked VERY close to the trim color that I am trying to match. I asked the girl behind the counter if I could take the lid outside to check and sure enough it is pretty dang close so I bought a can.

Got a test panel drying out front. I will post some pictures later for some opinions. I am hoping this pans out because it would sure make getting the bumper ready for installation soo much easier, plus touch-ups will be much friendlier.

EDIT: test panel is too light against the darker cladding. I am gonna look at some other options, but it looks like I am back to a custom mix...

Had to move the bumper out so I could break down the pallet so I sat it in front of the 4Runner just to get an idea. Gonna be sweet.

Then I moved it back inside and did a little test fit on the 21" ELS LED lightbar. It is going to be perfect to fill the hole on the front. Gonna have to drill some new mounting holes.

Yeah, of all the ones out there, I have always liked theirs. Still not sure why the winch mount is offset to one side, but I'm sure it has a reason.

Got the back side primed and painted with some rustoleum gloss black and placed an order with paintscratch.com for some color matched paint for the outer shell. If it goes right it will turn out dark grey metallic to match the flares and cladding. Will see when it gets here

I got my highlander coils, struts and shocks today. I am going to order some toytech 1/4" top side spacers to throw in when I do the install.

My paint shipped on Friday and according to UPS will be here this Friday. I hope to get some painting done, but I have been put on notice by the :princess: that I have a deck to put rails on before the 4th :meh: will have to work on that this week so I can :wrench: a little this weekend.
