Interior Dome Light Alternatives?

ok, got the dome light kind of in tonight. won't be able to do the dash lights for a couple days. also, i was right under the garage motion sensing light, so it was on the whole time.

first impression...need to find one about a 1/4" long as you really have to bend the tabs to get it to fit. i need to go at them with pliers this weekend to get the bends right.

second impression...dang bright

I know it is not an upgrade to the pitiful interior light of the fj55, but the Toyota Corona utilized the same interior light.

Random trivia, they also used the same license plate light as earlier pigs.

Brett and Inge, are you talking about the 68-69 license plate lights that were installed BENEATH the licence and not on the sides?...........my 69 had this kind but it is sadly rusted out with rust pinholes that go through the metal to the other side!.........been looking but all I come across are the side license plate lights! TIA

I need the side license plate lights... mainly the chrome covers, where are you finding them? Were they used on anything else that you know of?

yes, the style that goes beneath the plate on the tailgate. The stamping dies are obviously a little more tired compared to when they first started using them, so there are minor imperfections in the metal, but they still look 100000% better than a rusted out POS.

weeboo, a set just recently sold on ebay..........they come up ocasionally there also on this forum..........cineaut and crazygreek recently parted out pigs that had them; I got mine from Cruiserguy for the 78, even the rubber was nice and soft!............am against a wall for stuff for the early 69 body I have.......I am looking for a license plate light that shines upwards..............have only seen one other like it

Brett; what question should I ask for from Toyota for the replacement license plate light?, the ppl at the local toy dealer only want to sell me an FJ Cruiser claim they can't find anything for early modelsdid tell me that they would take my piggy in tradein on an FJ Cruiser

what about soldering? Kinda permanent, but don't the LED's last for some ungodly long time?

rather just bend the tabs, although i've been driving it for a few days and the bouncing hasn't unseated the bulb yet.

got the dash lights in also. they are a bit of an improvement, but wont' show up in photos. kind of a bluish tint. treeroot saw them, so he can probably vouch that they are nice.
