started stripping everything out of my 80s series interior, getting ready to put all the sound denting in the next week, I came across this old hitron sound system, which is completely awful. If anybody can recommend a good sound system let me know. if possible could do a good OEM fit in the same location or if not, let me know your recommendations on what you had done.

Would anybody recommend the interior weatherstripping of the door jams? I contacted a few companies that do not sell it those anymore. I had already ordered the weatherstripping for my windshield and my back window along with all my doors. But it’s the interior door jams that I’m having a difficult time finding. I did post a few photos so you guys can take a look.

The next photo you’re gonna see are the heaters, mine for some odd reason do not work, but they do turn on, unsure why they produce any heat or maybe I’m a fat ass and I can’t feel nothing. If it could save me a little bit more weight, I’ll take them out..

I was also looking for a seat swap which I read about it in mud but I’m not entirely sure which would be the best option for the 80s series . the motors in my two front seats are completely useless and they don’t move. Trying to replace the motors are extremely expensive and every single donor seat seats that I could get my hands on the motors are given out as well. I prefer adjustable and manual because of their reliability.

I will update what it will look like towards the end.

First, suggest putting your vehicle info in your signature line so we all know what year you are talking about. The pictures give enough detail to ascertain this but in the future if you have mechanical questions it would help.

You are lucky having the 95+ interior as it is easier to take things out (mainly the headliner). I would put your VIN in partsourq or amaya and check for availability of the parts in question.

The first picture is the molding for around the doors and unless really messed up shouldn't need replacing although they may need a good cleaning. The rear heater can be bypassed as previously stated. As for pulling the unit it isn't hard unless you want to pull the hard lines as well and then you are into a lot of work (that frankly isn't worth it).

For the radio and the seats, Google IH8MUD 80 series (insert what you are looking for e.g., radio, stereo, seats) and you will get years worth of discussion on upgrading the subject.

Things I would suggest:
- While you are doing the interior, pulling the seat belts and either getting them redone or do a thorough cleaning.
- Think about pulling the port installed alarm system if equipped, these weren't great when new and the years haven't been kind. If you have one it is under the driver's seat.
- Clean your switches, dirt and build up makes them either not work, intermittently work or gives "odd" issues.
- I would leave the headliner in unless it really need work. The 95+ is easier but if it isn't an issue I would leave well enough alone.
- You will pull the carpet to sound deaden, if you have access use a cleaning solution and pressure wash it. Let it dry while doing the sound deadening and then appreciate the cleaner and (most of the time) better smelling carpet.

Last thing I would say is take a lot of pictures when taking things apart and bag and tag the smaller items as they tend to get lost or you just plain forget what you did two months prior. :)

Yes, I definitely plan on bagging and labeling. Every single thing I take apart. I’m a very organized person. I’ve been cleaning all my buttons, switches, nook and cranny and anything I see dirt or dust.

Thanks for all of the tips and the advice. I am new here so when I clicked I only clicked on the 80 series tech as it has many followers and people can answer a lot of the questions I have. Most of the time the app is a little glitchy as well as I use my phone most of the time, that being said I’ll be sure to put my vehicle info in next time I do another post.
