How did you come to those component sizes? I would have thought they are on the small side, especially for a 1HZ, I run the same size core and a larger radiator on my 13BT and it appears marginal when holding higher boost for an extended period.

Hi everyone ! I'll reply to posts shortly ! Wow this is an awesome kit! Ended up fitting cooler behind the tray! The cooler remains extremely cold! The fan has some serious power behind it too! It's noisy! The fan is activated by a hobbs pressure switch so when under boost the fan starts running, not keen on that idea I joined the wires together so it runs as soon as you turn the ignition on!

As advertised on the website I can honestly say 15/20 % more power, down nearly 100 degrees on piro, less down shifting and a heap more black smoke so it's running cooler, the pump will be removed tomorrow and sent away for a new top and aneroid fitted, will find out what the link is and post it up for you to see!

So wish I could post videos here!

Coupla pics.......

Zolt,

Do you have any dyno results!

It is a ported head on the injector pump I'm talking about! Boost compensator being fitted at the same time!

I'm watching your coil thread very closely ! Will probably be my next major mod I think! Thinking of running 8o series!

You don't need ether of those mods on your pump to get 160hp .

Spend your money elsewhere like getting more air into your engine .

It's not huge but far out it works a treat hey! The fan has done serious sucking power behind it! Will be having a dyno run tomorrow !

Anyone even thinking of fitting an intercooler I highly reccomend water to air and just do it, you won't regret it! The key is high boost pressure too!

One happy boy tonight!

I'm chasing economy and longetivety out of this engine, my pump has a problem with the advance internally now so it's coming apart and being inspected at the least!

I will be posting the Dyno comparisons when I have em!

Been a lot of people get massive hp out of a 1hz but they s*** themselves in 3 months, I'm doing mine properly once only! I am prepared for a blow up if it dies it dies but I've pushed it hard with this current turbo for well over 5 years and my motor is fine so far ..... Touch wood!

Yeah post up your dyno results when you have them .

The stock pump on a 1HZ will make well over 160hp so don't go spending to much money making it better .

Look at your air box and snorkel are two things I can see just looking at the pics in this thread .

Do you still have stock internals ?

That's fast installation.
How much different is the water to air compared to an air to air intercooler???
why do you highly recommend it?:D

First time I seen an intercooler mounted at the rear. Usually its the radiator........not unless was actually intercooler...lol.

Nice work there.
Would you think this cooler setup would work with a turbo 1fz-fe motor.Or does it have a average max average hp-flow equation.
Any pics of the water hoses running under the ute there

Watch your EGTs is the main thing. Getting it tuned properly will get this sorted out. What are you planning for max EGT and Boost Pressure?

Have you read much on Gbentinks research. He will shut the snorkel and airbox thing right up.
Keep it the way it is.:meh:

Guys,

Just wondering if anyone knows anything about the AXT "extreme" turbo?

I enquired today about rebuilding mine ( Garrett T3 ) and high flowing it at the same time. wasnt very impressed with the quote or the results. Spoke to axt themselves and they agreed very little change from highflowing a turbo but spoke to me about an extreem turbo they sell. I am trying to get info from them but they have server and staff issues down there at present.

If anyone has previous experience with this turbo please let me know as I am keen to learn more.

Hi Wong, Foreal and others

Yep no stuffing around..... Sooty needed to be finished before today as the pump has now been removed, and wanted to drive her for a while prior to the pump coming off, I had it dynoed again today. I originally planned on front mounting the cooler but I couldnt make it work with the limited bits and pieces I had to make brackets etc. it ended up on the back of tray and ive cut out the running board so it can suck more air. the fan is fantastic, it really does pull some serious air through it.

Im no expert when it comes to intercoolers but what many supposably experts have told me is that air to air will generate overheating issues. more plumbing so more lag etc. I decided on air to water because it made sense to go this way over air to air, AXT had a great kit that fitted up to my turbo very easily. the difference was very noticeable after the fit up, the tank and barrel are made by PWR, I believe PWR make a good product here in Australia , i have fitted there alloy radiator and havent had any problems, it also adds a fair bit of bling to your truck if you like that.

sorry I havent got dimensions for you. I will do it when i get it back. I fitted it up then remembered I hadnt measured it up

with removing the bars, cleaning and repainting the front behind the grill, fitting intercooler, going out to buy more heater hose and testing took me 22 hrs. I didnt it pretty much in one hit then died the following day LOL

I'm still tired now, it was a big job, the diesel mech ive been chatting with was pretty impressed as he said 90% of people who buy an intercooler through them bring it back in a box and ask them to fit it up. there was no way they fitting mine at $1000............

I bought my intercooler from AXT themselves.

for anyone who is interested the fan is 12" Davis Craig and the pump is a 20lpm bosh pump. the fan has some serious balls behind it.

I am going to fit electro fans to my PWR radiator

Yeah I am familiar with his work and am a diesel mechanic myself so I may just know a bit about what go's into getting power out of a diesel .

A turbo'd 1HZ can make well over 200hp .

Like I said before I am familiar with Gbentinks research and he has done some very good work and put in a lot of time . I will be using one of his turbo's on my own 1HZ and have picked his brain about it .

Air box restriction is a very valid point you just haven't reached the potential of you inlet tract yet .

I am hoping for about 150hp at the wheels with 33s, intercooled, 3" exhaust

Don't know if that will be easy at 14psi.

I see some issues there. There's no way to burp the air bubbles out of the top of the intercooler.

Do you have a coolant gauge for the intercooler? I'll bet up a long grade, especially if you were hauling a heavy load, you would get the coolant past boiling and blow out a line or coupling, hopefully before you blow out the radiator/cooler.

I think you need a sump with a cap that can blow off steam, ideally above the level of the intercooler under the hood so you can get rid of the air bubbles.

I have the same problems in my tow rig. I need to do some rework to mine.

I do like the little radiator/fan. I'm planning to get a bigger one than that from a small car in the junkyard.

The Northside 4x4 intercooler has the fill cap on the intercooler itself. Apparently it's far easier to bleed the system of air
