Injector pump rebuild $$s ??

$2k sounds really expensive for a rebuild job. You can buy a rebuilt one for less than that on eBay.au.

I'd be wary of fitting one that I'd bought on eBay without first getting a diesel injection specialist to check it out.

I've noticed that while the pumps on B, 2B, and 3B diesels all look the same, they are set-up/callibrated differently.

There are a few diesel injection shops that sell rebuilt pumps on an exchange basis thru ebay.com.au. I didn't mean to suggest private party sales. That's rolling the dice.

That is way to expensive. go somewhere else. You should be able to buy a new one for less than what they quoted you. I jusst had a pump rebuilt that quoted 1280, they said they could get me a new pump for 1220 plus freight. I said I cannot afford that.. they took a few days and called me back with a quote in the low nines. told them to get it done. also sent inmy injectorsto have them done. another 400 or so. And this is canadian dollars!

What kind of pump is that?

just a reference question .. I did my injectors in Marilu last year .. cost me around 500 bucks 6 injectors .. asuming new nozzles .. but in the Max Ellery manual they claim for 2 stage injectors on the 1HD-T ...
the Diesel lab that do my injectors job said there is only one stage that it's rebuildable ..

tha's correct .. ?

No it's not. The injector for the 1HD-T is indeed a 2-stage injector.

I took mine out (in 2002) and drove them to the local Denso shop (which admittedly doesn't see many two-stage toyota injectors here in LA) and they returned them to me a week later.

The truck ran like total crap! I took them back, and they sheepishly admitted that the tech had set them as single stage. They re-did them again and they were fine then.

You should find another diesel shop. Or send them a copy of the FSM injector adjustment procedure.

my 1HD-T it's running just fine .. I'm getting around 26 - 28km/g ( what it's good for my 315 and plenty oif diesel that I have available at my IP ) ..

I will ask in another diesel lab here ..

I saw this post today.

Maybe there are single and two stage injectors on the 1HD T depending on the intended market??

My pump was a rotory from a massey tractor.(cav)( the tractor had burnt and then sat for about 4 years) And those are suppose to be more costly to repair. they even replaced the rotory part.
either way you need to shop around and go to some real diesel places that are not looking to make a fast buck. I do not understand how they were able to drop over 300 dollars from the quote. I am sure that they were not losing money on the cheaper quote.

OK injection pump just s*** the bed. Two days ago I went for a beer run. 200 yards down my road trhe truck hesitated like it was running out of fuel (though the needle was on 1/4). Then it ran fine. This morning I tried to start the truck. Sputtered, sputtered, died. Tried again, same thing. Tried again and the battery drained too low to push it over.

Popped the hood. Front diff was soaked and the IP was dripping fuel.

Bummed.

Can you tell where the fuel is coming from? Could be just the feed pump and or the primer pump.

Often, all you are going to need is a seal or two. You should be able to buy a seal kit and replace all the seals yourself on a rotary VE style IP. Is this what you have? I am presuming so because I have yet to hear of an inline pump leaking. I picked up an OEM seal kit for my TD4.2 and it only cost $18 for all the seals. Clean off the pump and get her started to observe where it is leaking from. You may be able to change out the offending seal with the pump still on the engine. To change all the seals, you will likely want to remove the pump. If one is going, the others can't be too far behind so I'd put that in your plans when it is convienient.

I believe his leaker is a 2H

I am praying that it is merely the hand pump or a seal or two. It did appear that that was where the leak was coming from. But, if that's the case, would a leak from there let in enough air to make starting that difficult?

There have been at 3-4 examples of this happening on this board. Usually they go slowly.
Some owners have used the Bosch Mercedes diesel type primer, which is very similar in design.
I think you need to redrill some holes or something simple like that.
Maybe Tapage was one who did this ;)
