What should I be looking at $$s wise to have a injector pump rebuilt for a 1987 Hj60?

It depends on the parts required, but 2H are relatively cheap. Most fuel injection shops have a basic strip down, fit pump kit and bench test cost.(In oz thats about $450AUD)
Serious parts are added on top.

Dude, I just had a quote for $2000 USD. Maybe I should send it to OZ.

6-7 hundred in NH

It really does depend what it needs and what you ask the shop to do. If you have no real reason to rebuild it (not obviously broken or the cause of an issue you are chasing) - I would take it in and have it bench tested and calibrated.

It wont cost you much (200-400) and if it runs fine without tearing it apart why do it?

Its likely your biggest expense on that pump would be labor. Paying someone to completely tear it down and put it together without changing any parts would probably be $600 +

I recently took a 12HT pump in. They calibrated it and replaced some parts in the lift pump. It was just over 300.

Mine is in the shop now having a strip and rebuild just for good mesure because the engin is out ! So I will post a price in €uros when I get it back.

Whats actually wrong with it?

From what my engine rebuilder says...He had it out and taken to a injector lab. "its tired and needs a rebuild and the boost pump is very weak." PO was running bio in it for sometime with no extra filtering

Get a quote from Hiflo including the shipping to see which ones are better priced. Remember, you have to ship your old one there as a core exchange. If Hiflo is just a $100 or so cheaper than local for a complete rebuild, I might consider local for ease. However, I'd expect an Aussie shop would be less likely to goof up. They see a lot of these IPs.

That doesn't sound like reasonable explanation to me. Biodiesel doesn't require any extra filtering. Waste Vegetable oil might but that's not bio.

I just assumed that he meant WVO. These inline pumps are perfect for both WVO and Bio. I can't see crap from lousy WVO getting through the proper filter. The problem I can see is that if you don't install a rebuilt pump, if there are any problems with the rebuild, your engine rebuilder will blame it on the old pump.

It sounds reasonable to me but I dont know if the bio caused it.
The guy who does my pump work says the 2H/12HT pumps are usually good for 400000klm+

The bit I dont like is having it sent out. My preference it to speak directly to the person doing the pump.
The engine rebuilder will probably add his % onto the final pump rebuild cost for merely dumping it at someone else's doorstep

If you're talking about NO filter vs just the regular filter... then it NEEDS a filter.

Bio, WVO, SVO, Diesel... all need GOOD filtration. Lots issues with the local home-brew bio diesel from the Co-Op - glycerin and other contaminants in the fuel is very hard on injection parts.

A nice big glass or poly bowl under a large filter is a "must have" for any alternative fuel.

Seattle area has many sources of bio, home brew that you can buy on the open market (usually one day a week at a certain spot from each seller) Also there are a couple local oil Co's that sideline bio. Its virtually everywhere.
That said I love bio, love the idea of bio....but in reallity your buying someone elses waste...it contains everything from flakes from egg rolls, bits of french fries, to taco bits.... things screening doesn't get 100% So once I bought this rig I put two inline filters... and you would be surprised with the bit that are pulled out. Im sure most of damage was done prior to the filters install
