This thread is going up for @loafduck and the information is relevant to the Toyota 1C

There is a lot of info in this service manual, you'll want to try and source one from eBay but feel free to ask for any information and I will try to post anything relevant for you here. It has a bunch of information on cleaning , inspection, and re-assembly as well

Thanks for all this info man I will be working on it tomorrow I've gotten a decent amount of the engine bay already removed to get the injector pump out

The only real challenge is how to get the head off with out removing the turbo from the exhaust header and if I have remove it then I need replacement gaskets to remount it

Awesome, sounds like there's no turning back now lol good luck ...cool to see you are trying to bring it all back to life...

If you need help finding parts let me know I can search around . Partsouq.com and Amayama.com are good options for OEM and as you know Rock Auto has a good bit for aftermarket

From the images I might be able to disconnect the turbo exhaust output and just leave it attached to the exhaust header and cylinder head
If you need better images or more info just let me know...wish I had more experience with repairs like this but my knowledge is limited...

I remember a while back I was searching YouTube and found videos from people in other countries working on the 2C which is really similar. You may be able to find some helpful stuff out there

Actually speaking of that I found a video of a 1ct engine but I think it was the forklift one? However it looked Identical to the engine I have with very minor differences.

Your good man your repair Manuel is worth its weight in gold rn and it's nice to see someone else who has a willingness to deal with these old cranky Toyotas with a glorified tractor engine in them

Hey are there any cylinder head experts reading this thread I could consult with. To help me figure out if the head gasket blew or the head cracked somewhere or both frankly

I also will need help telling if my cylinder walls have been damaged severely by running without coolant. Yes ik all the piston rings are likely burnt to hell but that not my concern rn

For sure... The 1CT is what we have. 1C - w/ a turbo disel

Actually do you know of anyone else who has this car I need a couple of mounting brackets I lost and no parts place in person or online has it
Not really...I think there was one guy on the other thread who replied at one point but ended up selling it shortly after....A few folks over seas who seem to have heard of this motor otherwise its not well known..That being said its similar in style and design to other Toyota diesels so people with experience can chime in

Orileys wanted to charge me over 100$ for a new head gasket and 50$ for new head bolts like Damm ik parts are hard to find why you trying to rob me at the same time for them
That sucks, just try to go with OEM first. Check local Toyota dealer first but otherwise you can get it shipped from Partsouq...I can't find the bolts ( or are they studs with nuts? I will keep looking )

You may have to pay some duties but I wouldn't do all this work and then put an aftermarket gasket on, especially for such a rare motor. What company is possibly making quality aftermarket ?

I'm no expert. never had to pull and recondition a head BUT don't most people send the head to a machine shop to be resurfaced ? Here are some tips on checking for cracks per the manual. IT suggested using a spray dye to check for leaks? I've never heard of that technique but should work

Sorry I realized I posted the valve cover gasket. Sh*t Toyota doesn't make OEM gasket anymore lol bastards.

Here is what Partsouq is showing and NO STOCK.. You may be destined to work with Oreileys or Rock Auto and pay the piper

Amayama claims to have stock but will take many weeks to receive

Also beware there may be some other gasket sneaking around on there, circled part below in question

hmm i could clean the head with some solvent and 0000 fine steel wool but im pretty sure that head is aluminium. i have a brass brush that might work. let hope the brass is softer than the head

so i did a bit of research and it seems like stone is either oem or quality aftermarket it looks like this new old stock gasket sat somewhere for 30 YEARS. At least it seems to be a made in japan one
