That thing is a rocket ship compared to my 3vze. It's got a hard time getting out of it's own way.
Exactly. I came to the 200 from a tired 22RE in a lifted overweight pickup. This truck is plenty fast enough for me.

Seems crazy that no one has been able to flash the ECU to unleash more power or remap to gain response.
One thing I haven't figured out yet, and admittedly I haven't spent any time looking into it (no need now, and likely ever), is does HPTuners "support" mean full access similar to what they allowed when I tuned the GenIV Vortec I messed with, or more basic features? When dealing with a tuning solution this complex and potentially capable I think it best to be specific about what is on the table. There are folks on here that continually claim that “the ECU hasn’t been cracked” and “no one can flash these ECUs“ which is just false.
HPTuners advertises support for the LC200 with 3UR-FE up to 2015 I believe. OVTuning can flash and tune at least a 2013 (mine) and possibly post facelift models but it’s a tremendous headache to deal with them at this point.
The stock map seems to be very conservative in terms of timing and fueling, which you might expect. So there are definitely gains on the table, but as with any engine/ECU mod, you’re taking a non trivial risk.
As an engineer and someone with experience tuning trucks and high performance cars, I’d advise anyone thinking about such options to understand and weigh the risk/benefit for their use case.
This looks like a recently released well developed tuning platform. Pretty much exactly what one needs to do with the 200-series, as done on this Taco
