That looks like a decent little unit for the price. You'd probably have to use it to power a larger relay (the factory relay?). I wouldn't think that timer can handle the full current.

So on another topic, how is the fuel economy looking with that thing? Have you had to fill up yet?

Yeah I'd use whatever I got to energize the factory relay.

Not sure Amazon ships to Canada , but that thing is the general idea.

Fuel economy...dunno yet. I wanted to burn off everything in the tank (possibly was quite old.)

so I only filled up a few days ago. Tank isn't as big as the one in my vw...

was only (only  ) 60 bucks to fill.

Cool, you'll have to let us know how many kms passed for litres filled at your next fill-up. I'm sure I'll be jealous.

$60 eh? Thats a small tank. 60l tank maybe?

Have you weighed your truck yet? Curious...

No haven't. I'm curious too.

some of the ones I posted can do both...

Yeah...only looked at the first one. Got home from work at 10pm, had to leave to go back at 5:15am...so my attention span was a little short...

Damn son... Two pages of replies for a relay! I know it's slow around here but hurry up and post something real exciting like a manual shot off or... Before Andrew gives us the snow report like none of us have seen it before, let alone work in the stuff...:hillbilly:

Not just a relay, it's a relay for a fxxxin datsun...

Manual shot off...is this some sorta northern albertan term for a quick visit to a blue john with some hotshots, hand lotion and some full page spreads of farm animals?

Did you get a chance to install a pyrometer yet?

Nah, haven't done much. Too nasty outside, which is where the giant ford I'm borrowing the pyro from is parked, and haven't had many days off.

Did get some non-chrome manual mirrors to replace the busted power ones, and fully functional heater controls tho...so I did something.

Attempted to fix door lock, bled a fair bit. Taught the neighbours some colourful metaphors after which the lock in question still didn't work.

I don't think there is any more hateful place on a vehicle than inside the door. It's like building a ship in a bottle with rats gnawing on your knuckles the whole time.

I agree. Once worked on a door regulator in a mid 80's full size chev. That sucked way worse than a Toyota door, the cheap as* bean counters rivet sh*t in there and the adjustments are few and far between.

Funny thing is the MK4 Krauters seem to have it figured. Easy Peezy. Whole thing just comes off allowing endless smiles and accessibility. Mind you I wouldn't be surprised if there were only two part numbers..... one for the shell and the other for everything else. Oh and it would all be held in with 4 sided triangle bolts..... naturally of course.

That is remarkable civilized.

Datsun, less so. You can chose between seeing what your doing, or getting your hand in there to work on it.

Never both.

Its' only passenger side, and the power lock function works, just not the outside key.
I can live with that.

On that pass side lock, i have seen where the lock has been changed and they never bothered to re-key it so you need a separate key to operate that door.

No, it's not the key, that's fine. It's the actuator rod from the lock mech, that goes through a bunch of plastic shyte. Said plastic shyte was broken, so I snagged a replacement from the wrecker, but it's not allowing the rod to move freely. must be some crusties in there.

All of which is an incredibly easy fix if it was possible to access the m*therf*cker without losing an acre of knuckle skin.

I'll be taking a break from that.

Hopefully on monday or tuesday I'll be messing more with fuel. Methinks my timing is a bit retarded. (that's what she said)

However a wrench in the ointment, is my dad and I getting subpoenaed as a witness for something that happened 4 years ago.

Collossal pain in the ass, and at this point and after those wankers delaying for years, I don't even remember what the fxxx it was all about. I only met the guy in question for 2 minutes once.

What fun. :bang:

Never would have pegged you for a retarded injector.... quite the opposite rather. :D

Wouldn't happen to be the time you found SWAT sniper looking people crawling around on your front yard would it? Perhaps lighting off the pack of M100's off wasn't such a smooth move eh? I told you frozen peas and a slingshot were the safe bet.

Bahahahah!

Haha, no. The 400 cops and riot squad were more than enough witnesses for the great chemainus showdown.

I went to bed on that one anyways. Mel stayed up to watch.

This is a boat thing. Something to do with the gov't not getting it's tax money from some guy, who may have been an H.A.

Whole thing has fxxxall to do with me, and the way they imperiously summon me to nanaimo despite my not living there and working full time in duncan pisses me off to no end.

As for my retarded injection, didn't think you'd be able to resist one out over the middle of the plate...:flipoff2:

Interesting lil rig Spuds, gonna light wheel it?

Oh sure. Like I've wheeled my last 5 trucks...

Wheeling in of itself has never been my thing, so I don't really care if I never take it out. Maybe the nitinat road this summer if I want to drown myself again, but I suspect this summer all days off will be spent doing yardwork. Got a years worth of catching up to do. Jobs that were on hold etc.
:meh:

And yeah, it's kinda cool. It'll never be a cruiser , but it's a lot more fun to mess with than a metrosexual vw until the cruiser I want shows up.

I haven't checked to see if there's still a blackened portion of the field where you barfed...

With the truck...Installed the pyro. Not the most elegant solution, but it's 3" gauge, so difficult to be elegant about it.

I suspect it isn't working correctly, either the gauge or the probe is pooched, which kinda sucks,(at least it was free...)but having just read an article on the subject sounds like it should be easy enough to test the thermocouple, the gauge less so, as I'll need a steady source of low voltage. I still have that auber (f.u.auber ins.) gauge in a drawer so I can hook it up temporary like, or swipe it's probe to see if things work.

(good read...) http://www.turbodieselregister.com/EGT_EVAL.pdf

It responds very slowly, and highest number I saw was 700F which can't be right. Locomotive breath was in full force on the test drive. (an occasional italian tuneup isn't a bad thing..:hillbilly:)

I'd just install the auber, despite the rage at the company the gauge inspires, but it's a 24v number.:meh:

Kinda sounds like a probe is a probe tho, so at least I can test that end.

Also hooked up the afterglow to a switch with a bright ass flashing led so it's obvious it's on. Timer would be better, but this works for now, and I advanced the timing a smidge. It's a ve pump, so it's a pain in the ass timing them properly (dial gauge and special adapter) so I went for the "crowbar to the left one metric C-hair" approach. Seems to have improved things. I'll see how it starts in the AM. May have to ad a couple more hairs...
