In love with my project 93' 80 series but its breaking my heart, bogging down on incline... fuel system issues ? any advice ?

noob question but do all fjs come with an O/D button ? my O/D light came on recently yet I cannot find the switch anywhere.
If it's a 93-97 North American Market truck then it's a FZJ 80 and yes they all have the button it's on the side of the shifter just below the button you push with your thumb to shift gears.

Right now the truck is incapable of driving over 40 mph up hill, right now I can barely make it home to about 1000' any faster than 10 ish MPH

If this is the case then there's something wrong !

Noob question but what

Ill Adjust the kick down cable asap but have not adjusted yet ! Ill have to let the truck and trans try to shift to a lower gear and see how she handles it, the main road i am concerned with is going alteast 50 up a highway that basically starts at sea level then climbs to 6765ft then back down to sea level haha a bit ridiculous.

when I cleaned the MAF the only parts removed were the hose clamps to access.

I also have a brand new intake boot, about 2 miles on it so far, the previous boot was a bit cracked.

Are your parking brake actuators at the rear axle rusted bad and are dragging? That would make it so you cannot go fast.
Does your parking brake work?

So many things with poor descriptions.

Folks are looking for a lot more information here to help with triage. Something is clearly wrong.

If you park on the slightest of inclines and put the truck in neutral, does it roll on it's own?
Have you replaced the air filter?
How does the truck behave on flat roads?
Does it rev to 4000 or 5000 in Park?
Do you have a Scangauge for monitoring temp?

Parking brake does work well, i live in a crazy steep neighborhood so often parked on hills with ebrake engaged.

The truck behaves like a good girl while on flat ground, and if i park on a hill with the ebrake off it does roll on its while in neutral. She also revs easily to 4-5k in park very well. I looked for a scan guage that works on a 93 obd1 but was not able to find one, might you have one to recommend ?

Additionally these two videos may help with a bit more info, hopefully they are now viewable. (Still figuring out how to fourm)

I see, thank you. my first posted link was through an old facebook post just updated with a direct YouTube link and seems to be working

very likely, I have cleaned the maf with Maf cleaner, and the truck has a full egr delete, except for that damn near impossible egr pipe, currently capped off but there is a burn on the wire harness. the wires appear to not be compromised but the shroud has melted through. I have not checked the wires for continuity. What issues might be common with that egr pipe harness burn ?
If you have North American truck you don’t have a maf, you have a Vaf nothing to clean except connector don’t touch the screws it will break the solder connection inside. Also part is nLa.
I would check timing and cables if it doesn’t down shift when giving it gas.
Are all injectors firing?

If you down shift to second gear will the RPMs jump up more?
I get the impression something is amiss with the transmission.
Are you in Kona Palisades? That’s one steep climb for sure.

I would try manual shifting it. Start in first take it 4K RPM then shift to second. and see how it climbs.
In the video it's only going to 2100 RPM before shifting.

Wouldn't the kickdown (throttle) cable cause short shifting?

I noticed in the video the oil light came on. That needs to be topped off immediately.

Yes, that's why I suggest trying the manual shift. If it still won't climb it's something else.
