One thing I loved about the defender community is the waving. I will continue this tradition in the 200 (I wave a lot to the wrong people anyway bc who cares) and was wondering whether I will also be on the receiving end
Defenders seem so cramped you have to keep the window open so you can hang your arm and shoulder out; hence, you can actually see a wave. Most modern vehicles (200s) have window tinting/coating that obscures the interior in most lighting conditions; what you think is a wave could be a one-finger salute.
I do. You can still see someone wave from the steering wheel when driving opposite directions. I get a lot more thumbs up from non-cruiser drivers, otherwise it’s 50/50 if someone in a Cruiser waves back.
I wave at all land cruisers, rarely do I get a reply. still, I love seeing ALL land cruisers in the wild. I happened to drive by Torfab over the weekend and nearly crashed.
I always wave. I never get a response from the Mall Crushing Mom's but everyone else about 90% of the time "get" it and wave back.
Edit - Nothing against Mall Crushing Mom's !
I sometimes wave or flash an "OK". I skip waving at the ladies because I don't want to appear as if I'm sending some kind of wrong message. Once though I was able to say "Hey nice cruiser" to a younger woman in the super market parking lot who was parked a few spaces away. She replied with something like "yeah thanks".
I emphatically flash a hang loose to all cruisers of all generations, built or not. Def get some odd reactions from some people who think I'm driving a Highlander
I get a lot more waves in my FJ40 than the 200. In general I wave at Built 4x4s, Cool cars, All Land Cruisers, and people I know. If they wave back, cool, if not F-em. My wife makes fun of all the people I wave at (messing with me) but it's better to wave and be polite than just stick my nose in the air.
