IH8MUD racing

Realistically, I don't know that a real MUD race team is possible w/ us Mudders spread all over the world. That said, if there's enough interest from those who either normally race unsponsored or who race on another team but could commit to a few races a year in a MUD jersey, I could work to get a couple of my clients signed on as sponsors.

Isn't HUP United a group of a "privateers" racing from all across the US and Canada?

"Hup United: Part Gang; Part Squad; A Lifestyle. In 2003, Hup United was born in Somerville, MA. The idea was CROSS and CULTURE. Simple. Hup is the anti-team comprised of Privateers, One-off's, and Stragglers. Over time, our kit would grow to represent our love for all things Belgian. During a race in 2005 in the deep, dank woods of VT, a group of Hup riders were rolling on the course, and a spectator turned to his friend and said, "Damn there are a ton of F'ing Belgians here today." This was a big step forward for Hup; this was essential. At the beginning of 2007, Hup is kitted in the NW, New E, MI, GA, TN, PA, the entire state of Canada, both CA's, IL, WI, MN and CO. You will see us up in the park; you will see us at the races. Your significant other will roll down the car window and tell us "Baby Blue, uh huh." Your local hood rat will tell us our "kicks is dope". You will find us. But until then, "One Hup Finds Another."

Seems to me "Mud United" could be set up a similar way. The guy who built my last frame was/is affilliated with HUP (Mike Zanconato). I could ask him about it if no one here is familiar with the HUP set up.

PS: I Love the Molteni color scheme.

I might be willing to get a jersey...how about a TEQ or TLCA logo?

I think we should talk to Mark at Cruisercrap.com to see if he could facilitate the jersey order. He has the MUD logo on some of his stuff and has Woody's permission to use his logo (I think).

Wenge - I even wondered myself about a TEQ jersey w/ no explanation about what the symbol means. It would fit well with MT-PTK's description above about HUP UNited. ...maybe next year. Let's get the MUD team moving w/ the TEQ and TLCA logos on them for now.

Unless, there's someone else here that has the connections and wants to facilitate the sponsorship aspect and get the appropriate permissions to use the TEQ / TLCA / Tread Lightly logos, I'll volunteer.

Gonz, That's a good idea.

Woody, please weigh in again on your thoughts. I may have started this discussion and am fine stirring the pot -so to speak- but IH8MUD's your baby. I think all here would agree that if a team is to be created here, it either needs your involvement or at least your blessing & a bit of direction.

blessing granted...just let me know who to send the graphics files to :)

and for most shirts, I'm an XL ;)

Thanks to those that have the skills to plan this....I certainly don't :)

I have designed a few jerseys for places that I worked at and teams I raced on. I worked once with champion systems, I noticed one of the pictures in this thread has used their website and they were great to work with. If I recall correctly, they were able to get us jerseys for $50-60, and really awesome long sleeve jerseys for a bit more. If anyone wants my help on a jersey design, just PM me. If I remember correctly it was a minimum order of 10 to get the jerseys out.

Thanks.

Diggin' the Molteni...

You can count me in.

As for any logo other than 'ih8mud', this would be a great opportunity to let those companies give a little. Maybe we could agree on a cause, like MS or something, and use these jerseys to make a donation. It could be an annual thing. We collectively contact potential sponsorships at 3 different levels (ie, gold, silver, bronze) with gold being worth more, but also being a larger logo. There could be 1 gold opportunity on the jersey, 2 smaller silver opportunities, and say 3 bronze. This way, the potential sponsors actually pay for the jerseys, then we buy them as club members, at the full price of course, so not only would we have killer jerseys, they would also come with a tax deduction because it would be our cash going towards the cause, like MS or something...

I would be down for a couple of these. I will rock one if i get drawn to race in the Leadville 100. I would also be down with being a sponser with our new company Home Page Cruiser Concepts
Let me know how i can help.

Mike

Wow I just found these Bike threads as I was looking for help with a Carb... awesome.

Count me in to ride/race the jersey. I just finished the FL State Series in SS, I will be doing a 12 hour on January 2nd, Jan 9th rec riding in CO if snow gives me a chance and many other 12 hr, 24 hr and 100 mile events until Leadville Trail 100 in August ( may even do the 24 hours of Leadville).

I am a rider / racer but not a TOP racer, but I'd definitely sport the kit. By the way, since you are looking into these Jerseys, why not a full kit like a bib as well? Usually they are done simultaneously. If doing a DH/Freeride Kit then that is totally different design since there are no back pockets etc..

Sounds fun!!

Here is me in a custom made Jersey in the 07 Leadville Trail 100 "got cruiser" one sleeve, "Got mountain" on the other, FJ60 on left rib, MTB'er on right. This was simple silk screen done by folks at Got Cruiser, 3 made, an FJ62 and 80 for my two other buds:

I'm a DH racer.... Be interesting to get the Ih8mud Racing jersey out there or even get a team together..
The only problem is funding a team... I have some experience in this field as it is my job.
If you can secure a large sponsor then the others will come.. but right now there is very few companies looking to put money into a team.

I wan't in on a jersy. Has this happened? I would probably do 4-12 races, I am not riding for any team now.

It hasn't happened yet, but I think we have enough interest to do an initial run.
I'll spend some time pulling logos and putting together a comp design. So far, I'm thinking:
  • IH8MUD as title sponsor
  • TEQ featured prominently
  • TLCA, Tread Lightly and any other organization that we want to display our support of scattered discreetly.

OK, here's an update:

I've been working with Biciclista, an Italian jersey mfr that I'm considering importing.
This is their first pass. Some of it's good, some not so much.

I'm going to pull it into Photoshop do some of the following before I send back input.
  • Cull Biciclista logos down to one discreet mention.
  • Remove logos from upper chest
  • Move IH8MUD logo to front and back stripe; remove from rear pockets
  • Condense sponsors into simple list on R shoulder instead of stack of logos
  • L shoulder to display TEQ logo only

What other ideas would you all like to see?

Cheers,
.matthew
