Gotta be the most simple but nasty job...

Broke my Jet vise real good:rolleyes:..

So today while it get into the tcase for rebuild I will have to grab a new vise, prolly record vise.

They sure can be tricky little devils. Shop press helps a lot, careful heat on the yoke ends to break the surface tension and fusion during disassembly. I have noticed over the years that any Ujoint that is forced together doesn't last very long. I also ad grease to the needle bearings to help keep them in place before installation and find that little hammer taps on the yokes can really help them along the caps when installing them. Always index grease nipples accordingly. Not that you asked for advise..... :D

RIP Jet vise. LOL.

Pulled vise apart, bolt worked its way out, chased threads install bolt and gooood to go.

Had not torches so I did them cold, they were tough coming apart, but went together very nicely. Did I mention I miss torches and a hoist, doing this on your back is for the kids..

I agree, we always stuffed them with grease prior to installing them, I would lube the inside of the eyes with bearing retaining by snap on prior to pressing them in, put the ujoint between the two and slowly press them in keeping the joint in the center.. put in the clips, then bang the joints until they move smoothly without any bind.

Zip cuts work really well getting them apart easy.

Zips scare me a little, had one blow apart on me one day, its my last resort..

Since the shafts are off, I will attempt to rebuild tranfercase..

Did I mension these short wheel based trucks suck for tcase rebuilds, not much room. I would take rebuilding a 60 any day over this little rig..

I may not of mentioned, but Jeff at Radd is most excellent to work with and is nailing prices on all parts.. He has a couple `1hz turbo kits and intercooler, blowing these things out for a nice price:eek:.

Same thing happened to me, they freak me out to be honest

Nice light; where did you get that?

Lordco, the bill said they list for 225.00, I think more like 155, he gave it to me for 125.00

The tapered roller bearings were definitely fugered, thrust washer was in good condition..

These two pullers were all I would use years ago to rebuild tcases and H55s...

This five speed makes no noise at all, think I will leave it alone.

Not suppose to wash parts in mud

Ya ya... I know its well overdue to change out that stuff....

Remember how dirty the stuff was in Radds tank, pretty much half and half grease and mud...

Taking the cases over to Island D and have them hot tank em..

One???? I must be well into triple digits. Cutting inside boats, curved things under tension, or just being a cheapass and buying low budget discs and using them well past the safety line.
They fly apart and bounce off the forehead most often it seems, but also knuckles, kneecaps and left testicles. ( not the right strangely, although ymmv)

Maintain a good safety squint and you have nothing to worry about.

Holy s*** dude. For that price you could pay a starving college girl to wear a bikini and HOLD a freakin light for you...:flipoff2:

It's all in your stance, probably why you haven't hit the other one.

Yeah, I get having nice tools, most of my favourites are 75 years old, different kettle o' fish, but the s***ty ones got melted down a long time ago. .

That said, I'd work in the dark before I let my bunghole get stretched like that on a flashlight. :flipoff2:

Have to watch out with all these "jokes" and such tho.

Some humourless mainlander is going to get upset and start waggling his finger and lecturing. :p

well yeah of course, I was referring to the clusterf@@* of disapproving morality that the mainlander board has become...not like I'd actually CARE if anyone else got offended when reading this...

( I actually prefer it if my remarks are taken out of context. :hillbilly:)

Update, tcase done...

Need to fill with oil and test drive.. Pulling two leafs out of rear packs, not moving much, shatty ride.

Has anyone noticed the new seal between transfercase and tranny has a double lip with springs on both sides of the seal, must of been a fix for previous problems with them leaking...

I have done this job many times before, but I never did in the exact order the Toyota manual states and boy... its so easy..still learning..

Over the years I have picked up almost every manual through all the cruisers I have purchased, this one fell in my lap and is the bomb, pictures step by step:beer:

Glad to see you got it done. Did you remember to get your manuals from down Duncan way? We forgot to get them when we were there last. I will be renting your manual when I get around to my t-case, I can pay in beer

I am in Ft Mac until end of Sept...:bang: this dirty little town is growing up, lots of  and  Haven't seen any cruisers yet.
