Lots of ignition barrel rods breaking on the 100 series, on a lot of threads I’ve read I’ve seen it’s best to either use 7853A (my question is about 7853B) or to buy and replace the entire assembly 45280-60510. I bought the assembly but can’t find any videos on how to replace it, or anything in the service manual (definitely could be missing it) so I went back to fighting the broken half off the barrel rod and finally got it out.
Question is, I have seen comments that if you use 7853B you need to file something down in order for it to work as opposed to using the 10x more expensive 7853A. Is this actually a thing, and if so what am I needing to file down? Looking at my original part and the new one (7853B) I don’t see anything that looks meaningfully different. Want to be sure it’s fine before throwing it in and having to fight to take it out again lol.
Alternative question…anyone have a guide/video for replacing the entire bracket? Can’t find anything other than the comment that it’s the proper replacement. Looking at the bracket currently in the car it almost seems like there are cut off bolts or something holding it in, also seems to need a significant amount more disassembly of the steering wheel and even dashboard trim.
Appreciate any help!

Taking a look after some sleep, the second notch from the tab thing needs the underside knocked out and then the block at the end needs to be brought down a smidge closer to flush
