Does anybody know anything about the brass spindle bushings in the IFS spindles being converted at some point to needle bearings? What year?

Bushings are totally shot in my son's '87 4Runner, so I thought I'd look into this since we have to replace them anyway. Any tips on this job are also appreciated.

I bought the upgraded bearings for my 91 Hilux Surf. They are totaly wrong. If I got the original part # they fit. But the superceded part number is way to small. also the spline at the end of the drive shaft is larger then the machine surface for the bearing to ride on, which makes it completely usless. So from what I can tell is the bushing is there to stop the shaft from beating the hub to hell if you snap the end of the axle off. Take a look and see if yours is the same. if it is . replace the inner with the original part number (not the new one, once again it won't fit) then jam it full of grease, and be done with it.

part numbers for mine. may be different for 87
