I have a 1998 HZJ105. Somehow, an electrical connector for (I believe) the A/C compressor came loose and one end was eaten up by the belts. You can see the bad end on the green wire. Apologies for lack of a better picture... I'm not with the truck at the moment. I'm pretty sure it's something like this. I would be stoked to get some some help with this specific part but I also wanted to get some general guidance, too.

What's proper way to identify an electrical connector? I've been poking around the manuals, and I can't seem to find the right part number.

Also, what's the best practice for replacing these and where's the best place to get new ones? The eBay parts all seem to have a bit of wire and a heat shrink connector, but I've found guides on re-pinning connectors.

Thanks!

The connector housings usually have a very small part number molded into them. If you can get close enough to the housing see if it’s still there.

If not, the attached document shows the waterproof female connectors used in our vehicles and their part numbers. In the 1P (one pin) section, find the picture that matches your connector.

Btw, this is the corresponding connector in my UZJ100, which is different.

Thanks for the replies. Is partsouq/amayama the best place to get these? Is it best to just repin the connector?

Is there an alternative part number by any chance? I've been calling around and it seems like that one is out of stock/out of production...

This part is no longer available new in the US. You will not get anything out of any of the desert warehouses, any time soon.

Try contacting Dave Stedman at Japan4x4. It may still be available in Japan warehouse stock. I checked, Impex doesn't have any.

This one–pole connector housing is common on all Toyota, and maybe other Japanese, models. If you cannot find it, any one–pole male/female combinaton of connector housings will work.

The image above was copied from the Wire Harness Repair Manual, which is in the Resource forum, 100 series section. Lots of good information there on how to make/repair connections. Note that the connector housing part numbers are only housings; the wires, terminals and seals are separate and do not have Toyota part numbers.

The manufacturer of some Japanese harnesses is Tokai Rika Co., LTD. Their part number for the female connector housing is 4G0120-000.

Also, FWIW, that female connector was never in the Toyota parts inventory. It would have been sourced by the A/C pump vendor, and selected to match what the harness builder bought for Toyota. This is typical of all end item parts. The harness connector housings would be listed, but the sensors, motors, etc. that they connected the harness to would not.

Thanks for all the info. When I started hunting for this part, I wasn't even considering the possibility of swapping another connector pair including generic connectors a la Deutsch Connectors. For what it's worth, it was the other end that broke. I think I found some in stock...

Is there a way to tell which terminal I should get? I can tell that it is a 2.3 mm one, but I've seen seemingly various versions of the 2.3 connector. (Edit: it looks like it's 2.3 II, if someone else is searching for one.)
