Hmm, a low idle could be one of so many things at this point. You sound like you've done a fairly thorough job of cleaning and replacing various bits that would have an impact on your idle. Without knowing the year of this FZJ do you have access to a OBD II scanner?

I'm wondering if maybe your TPS is slightly off calibration or your MAF is dirty/old, if you've got the cracked intake hose, or some other difficult to pinpoint problem with your A/F mixture.

Actually after the cleaning process the " low idle " issue seems to be less frecuent .. so I'm not woried so much about it ..( most coz the FZJ80 have a manual tranny, so you can handle it better ) and it's 99 ( yes I know .. but it's from Venezuela where was fab until 2006 ) :D

Ok, I need to take a trip toVenezuela to buy a couple of Cruisers!

Anyhoo, I think you either have a small crack in the big intake tube between the air cleaner and the throttle body. Remove the tube and inspect it carefully paying special attention to the underside of it where it goes over the exhaust and valve cover. If that is fine, I think your next check should be the TPS position. If you have a good multimeter and the service manual you can do it.

By the way, your English is very good. Do you live or work where you speak English?

Right now the prices are in the sky .. no chance to buy one ( not cheap at least .. ) but my target was a FZJ-71 damn .. ! but hard time founding one in nice shape ..

Compra y Venta de carros usados - Clasificados con fotografia - Venezuela, Colombia, Puerto Rico go to Venezuela and Toyota selection .. then Autana/VX or Machito .. enjoy !
