x2 on marlin seals... seperating the birfs from the shaft is always fun.. aluminum pipe works well for this.. if u do replace ur birfs look up mar tackin the shafts
Be sure to have something nearby to throw/punch/hit/toke

using pliers is a waste.... no one else use the pipe method for seperating the shaft from the birf... block of wood and 5ft aluminum pipe... only takes 2 or 3 drops
Get yourself a set of these and you're golden.

awesome! I'm still looking for parts....I have s inking feeling it IS the birfield that is making my clunking noises....might take a run to Radd to see if they can take a listen and possibly give a me a better idea of whats going on up there
but I'll be sure to give you a shout!
If you need a 54mm socket, I've got one from doing mine before, so much easier than using a punch to get em off..
