I just did a big road trip and would have loved to have my iPhone mounted somewhere, rather than hanging out in a cup holder.
Where do you guys have yours mounted? I'm leaning toward the left side of the steering wheel, but I'm open to suggestions. Please include the make and model of the mount you use, too.
Thanks,

This is my 1st iteration. I have since moved it to the very top corner, painted it the same color as the pillar and changed the hardware to black.

This is the elevate metal craft mount from Etsy, a ball, a ram short arm and the ram mount.

Offroam magsafe mount. I've had mine for over a year now and it's held onto my phone even on trails or bumpy terrain. See this thread for how I routed the power cable. Only thing to be aware of, is that it isn't always one hand compatible, i.e. if you push the bottom or top of the phone too hard, it will release from the magnet. I am pleased enough with it that I got one for my wife's car as well.

I don't know which trim level you have but I have the 2013 lux, hence I have the big screen and CD player. Since I never use CD's any longer (just stream Spotify), I mounted both the HAM radio face plate and phone mount/charger to the face of the CD cover since I never use it.
I prefer it there for several reasons:
  1. I don't like it too high because I don't need neighboring cars looking at my phone and maybe speed, since I sometimes use GPS for an accurate MPH.
  2. My wife also needs access to my phone since she's our navigator when I'm not alone and she also will control music, any texts I get, etc. without me having to fuss with anything.
  3. It keeps the charging cable short
Yeah, I do have to look away, right and down, but it's just a glance, not much worse than looking left or right of your steering wheel at your phone.

I also have the Offroam mount, but I'm using it with a Peak Designs case and their locking mount.

I like the locking mount, have had other magnet only mounts come loose when off road.

Prefer to plug in a USB-C cable when I want to charge instead of having the wireless charger constantly heating up the phone.

Had the ProClip mount before that, the phone holder was nice but the adhesive that helped keep the dash mount didn't really stay stuck and taking the phone out would sometimes take the whole mount off the dash.

I like the offroam mount combo alot. The magnet is really strong and the placing is perfect. I haven't had any issues with the phone falling off the mount offroading at all.

I followed @JCliftonB's lead and mounted a Ram ball on my driver's side defrost vent. I've used it almost every day for the past 1.5 years and have had zero problems. It was really easy to install and sits in the perfect location without blocking any of the windshield. A standard size charging cable also fits perfectly draped over the steering wheel without wires hanging down. The AC keeps the phone cool when I use google maps while charging on long road trips (you have to close the vent when the heat is on or the opposite will happen haha).

Here is the ball mount I used.

Phone holder and arm.

I just used small self-tapping screws I had laying around to install the mount. You can easily remove the vent by prying up the left side with a plastic tool while the door is open. Reinstall after the mount is screwed in.

As by design, I sold my GX a few months ago to move to a 200, and I had a replacement vent ready to swap in like it never happened!

Peak Design + Ohana Rig Supply + Ram Mount arms.

The Peak Design phone case is amazing on its own. I use their home charging setup and magnetic tripod/fold on my phone. The case is premium quality as well. In the car, the phone ain’t going nowhere! It is a quick clip in, easy clip out, and fully solid when mounted. Because of the mounting position and solid usability of where my phone is, I question why I added CarPlay to my truck.

I took the picture below with my phone. It goes into that small holder on the left.

I know the logo on the mount is ORS for Ohana Rig Supply but all I see is DRS (as in the F1 tech)
