Nice job! I wanted to make the trip this year but too many family things going on. For sure next year. Let's see some more pictures.

For me it was minor. I was still running the fender flairs and I pretty much trashed them and they are definitely coming off. Other than that I only had a few minor scrapes in the door panels. The sliders and bumpers took a beating and did their job. The trail is so dang narrow and technical with rocks and trees coming at you from every direction that it doesn't suite the 80 so well, so I just took and slow and kept the paint on the truck not the rocks. I counted not more than ten 80s out of the hundreds of rigs, 95% of the trucks were 40s, mini-trucks or custom built setups. But, the 80 get lots of looks and comments and everyone seems to be impressed on how well they do.

Nice Job Mark-

Looks like you were wheeling with Noah. I was up there the week before backpacking in the Desolation Wilderness and saw a few rigs coming into south lake tahoe on thursday when we were heading back. You guys get any thunderstorms?

Hey Tim,
No rain. There was a possibility but it never happened. Yeah, Noah was in our group. We had three rigs plug a trail leader which worked out great. Noah in his 40, another 40, me in the 80 and the leader in a Rover w/ a 22RE and 80 axles w/ elec. lockers.

How was the backpacking?

Had clear skies until Thursday- then it started building in the afternoon. The trip was great- did a section of the Tahoe Rim\PCT just south of where you guys were.

You on for a Zion Narrows trip in October this year? ;)

Noah, great trip. I'm ready to do it again next year. You made the right call by staying in Tahoe Sunday. I was a long ass drive home after wheeling out of the Springs on Sunday. How'd you like Cadilliac Hill :D

cad hill was nasty for sure, especially with how wet it was, I winched on that first corner to a tree because I did not want to have to go backward and I was high centered on my pinion.

I can't even imagine driving home after that, we were exhausted. 2 beers a piece at sunnyside and we crashed out.

Drive out on Mon was great, open top 40, sun rising at 6am, 50 west by emerald lake.

Mark, great bit of driving you did on that trail! Every obstacle looked overwhelming. I still don’t know how we made through!

Noah, it was fun wheeling with you and Brett. Check out a couple of pictures I took of you.

After riding the Rubicon, I’m now making making plans to get my FJ-40 ready for next year. I hope to wheel with you guys again.
