49 when I bought my 93.......49 when I bought my 95.

A '95 with 29k miles?

I was 27, my first Toyota (or is it technically?), will definatly not the be the last.

Happy Birthday to Me!

Bought my '73 FJ40 when I was 27 for $3K, still have it and still running strong.

My locked 1993 with 185K was my 37th birthday present to myself last November for $7K.

Sold my '01 Tundra a year ago and I just sold my '01 Taco quad cab to a buddy last night for $18K.

I am not looking back.

The 80 truly is at the top of my heaps.

My Toyota history:

'81 Peecup at 16 (sold at 18)
'79 FJ40 at 23 (sold at 29 cause...)

I got my '93 a couple years ago (at 29) when my wife concluded that the mostly-rust FJ40 wouldn't serve as the needed second family automobile.

Got my 80 at the ripe age of 34 when I decided that our minivan could not with stand the torture of my wife and daughter. The 80 seems to love it and just runs great. Of course they took it over. 2 years later just bought the ladies an old volvo and now I am ready to make the 80 a non-daily-driver:)

Tarbe.....thats affrimative on the 29k. Picked it up from an MD in Florida who virtually never drove it. I'm going to try and keep it showroom if I can.

'93 80, 83k mi. bought in 2000 @ 24 (paid for with most of my savings + just enough cash from being a TA), sold in summer 2001.

'97 80 (LX450) 35k. mi. bought CPO in 2002 @ 26 (paid big $$$ for it as I started my first "real" job)

Actually it was after the NG show about the 2 80's that went across antarctica that I was totally 100% hooked.

I saw that, too! I loved those things.

29 when I got my first toy new in 1985, 4x4 pu (still have), 45 when I got my 91' lc in 2001 w/62k miles on jonesn' for another.....40 or 55?

I got my first LC in Nov.04 it is a 1997 40th locked i was 54 and I love it.:D

turned 23 when I got my first land-cruiser, a 70 series diesel.
Now I'm thinking about getting a '80 for a more "highway friendly" vehicle, along with the off-road prowess you guys showed.
You got me hooked!

33 years old, got the 80 to complete my collection and saw what they do in Moab on Cm04, ran Golden Spike behind Slee and was hooked ever since
Picked the 80 up in San Diego from a dealer that had it too long and knew the SUV market was dead cause of high gas prices

Don't hate me guys but I love the reliability of my 91 LC, but I am very disadppointed in the features, the seats for me are uncomfortable (I am a bigger taller guy), the styling a little off, and not to mention the slug in the engine compartment, but it does pull anything i have attached to it. but makes me get brake pads often. I am looking forward to drive a 93 to 97 and see how the comfort and power is. Anyone go from a 91-92 to a 93-97 and feel the interior comfort improve? i know the power has. But it goes and goes with 158,000 and keeps on ticking

You can ask (Idaho)Doug about the difference in driving the early/late 80. In performance, I "believe" it is a noticeable(sp) difference, but YMMV.

Also, as far as being crammed in there, you will want to ping Rick (landtank) and get the seat extender if you are going with '95-'97 for more legroom.

I’m reviving this one.

I got 80’d when I was 36.

Got an FJ40 in ’96 w/ 94k on the ticker. To the second owner, I traded my ’84 Phord Ranger for it. (HA!:flipoff2:) Unmolested and no rust. Only mods were the floor shifter, Warn winch, and after market steelies. Now it sits in the garage patiently waiting…

After having a ’96 4Runner, ’97 Heep Grand Cherokee, 2k Tundra, ’84 diesel Suburban, ‘99 Escalade, and a ’95 diesel Suburban, I’m finally back to a Cruiser.

I still have the ’84 Sub. for hauling big/ lotsa stuff. The wifey drives a Magnum, but now wants an FJ Cruiser. Trying to talk her into an 80 or LX450.

Got the ’97 80 in 05/06. Wish I’d skipped a few steps. :o
