I have a 1980 FJ40 and I have an issue with my driver seat. The rear right side keep rotating which causes my seat to slant back on one side and then ends up completely disconnecting the back from the base. I can't get the rear support to stop rotating even when I tighten it. I tried to find a similar support online so I can compare photos or see if this is a common issue that was solved with a new part but can't seem to find the same seat. I don't know what model year my seat is from but not sure if its from 1980.

If anyone can help me figure out how to stop my seat base from rotating I would really appreciate it. I can't drive the car now and I'm borderline thinking of having it permanently welded or something because I'm so frustrated.

Its broken

which part??

I'm thinking of maybe putting a nut on top of the bolt so I can tighten it from both ends. Right now a nut doesn't fit but if I unscrew the bolt beneath it should give me enough room to squeeze in a bolt.

I had to take the car today for it's yearly registration renewal and managed to stop the hinge rotating by squeezing in my craftsman ratchet set between it and my center console.

If you don't weld, it might be possible to bridge the break with a piece of like 10 gauge steel drilled and tapped to connect both sides with 3 or 4 bolts - maybe stainless steel pop-rivets from both sides.
