Great equipment line up.

One of the tractors that we had on our farm was a Case 830. It was horse for work, but I grew to love the compression release valve. My dad had a very persistent flaw in his character ... he always was seeking how far below
E he could drive the truck or tractor. It frequently resulted in me hiking miles to the nearest town to get a can of gas or carrying cans of fuel to the fields to get a tractor running. As we all know ... and he did too but ignored it, that you don't simply run a diesel out. However, the 830 was very forgiving. I would pour 2 5 gallon cans into the tank. Open the compression release valve on the engine, which effectively allowed the engine to free spool as the starter cranked it. Within 30 seconds or so of free spool cranking, the fuel system was sufficiently bled that the 830 would run again and finish purging the air from the system.
