Just a couple a pics...I won't have any exciting pictures until after I start adding accessories and taking it offroad.

Nice LX and one of the few used 80's with a working (apparently) power antenna. Most are broken by the time we buy them used.

Git busy. :flipoff2:

Notice in the top pic, the rear wheel flare is bright silver...and in the 2nd pic, the same flare looks like a dark gray.

You pictures need color-correcting/white-balancing so this does not mean much from the photo. How does it look with your eye?

That looks like mine did when I bought it. Click on the ROTW link in my signature to see how your rig will look after you finish the mods.

haha yeah - I had to get a little nervous when I seen that the car was originally sold in Lousiana...and then the dealership was in New Orleans!...but, it was 2001, so long before the hurricane problem.

I think the rig MAY have been repainted to more of a pearl silver, which is causing the shade difference in colors where the light hits it.

I didn't notice when I was buying it, but I saw today, along the side of the rear windshield what looks like layer of paint, with some chipped off near the window surround, with the SAME paint below it. It doesn't look like chipped clear, it looks like 2 different layers of the same paint. I'll try to take a pic of that tomorrow.

Was a Silver pearl a stock color for the LX?

Oh yeah, and Carfax shows 0 accidents, problems, etc. Completely clean.

I found another pic of the color "champagne pearl" and same effect...depending on how you look at it with the light, the trim may appear to be another shade different:

There is always a reason for repainting a new car like this. Do the magnet test. Get a flexing magnetic decal like the ones that you put up on the refrigerator and go all over the outside paintwork of the car putting the magnet to the body. If you find any places where the magnet will not stick that is filler. Let us know whay you find

OMG! The magnet won't stick to the windows or tires!

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?!?!?!? Are my tires and windows made of bondo?!?!

jk. Negative on the bodyfiller finding test.

I figure it may have another layer of paint for whatever reason, so I'll counter that with three layers of mud to even it out.

Congrats anyway. I guess someone just wanted custom paint and it's nice to be different. I particularly like the green front hub caps.

MH_Stevens - its a stock Lexus color - Champagne Pearl.

The centercaps on the wheels are pretty sunfaded - all except 1 anyways. It was missing a centercap when I was buying it, so I had one of the guys toss in a cap from another LX450 they had on the lot, so I have 1 new, and 3 faded caps. I'll probably find a set on ebay or just get new wheels soon so its no big deal.

I sprayed my center caps with a metallic aluminum paint from a can. Its the paint that does not go flat but has slight undulations to look like a metal moulding. They look great and at $4 what a deal. For a more fancy look you could fill the logo impressions with another color.
