Toad,
I'm not sure if this will help, but I do know that Cycle Taiwan is connected to Velocite.
Victor from Velocite seems to be pretty responsive. If you are having difficulty getting a response directly from Cycle Taiwan, he might be able to take care of it or at least turn you on to the right person. You can connect to Victor directly through the Velocite web site, blog or facebook page.

Cheers,
.matthew

First real ride on the fork today. Went to Government Canyon State Natural Area near San Antonio. This video (not mine) shows the easiest trail out there, going the easy way. The stepping stones in the stream crossing in the video ('bout half way through) were about 3' under water today.

This one's kind of funny and short, "I knocked that sign down with my face."

Anyway, here's a write-up of the trails out there (the comments are pretty funny. pussies). If the videos don't give a good feel for how rocky and technical it is, the comments and write-up do.

The fork did fine. I was a little bummed because last time I did GC it was on a hardtail with a s***ty front fork, and I only dabbed 2-3 times. Today I sucked and put footprints all over the place. No body-prints though. The best thing was the end of the ride: no fatigue! Given that I really didn't notice the fork or have to work against it or do its job for it, I have to give it a passing grade for today.

Going to do some nice, tame buff track tomorrow night. I'll be able to pay more attention to the equipment.

Dang, Semlin. Nice territory you pedal in!

i have two major trail networks within three miles of my house. i keep kicking myself for not doing this sooner but they have very steep grades even to the trailheads and are pretty much unrideable on my old hardtail. i could not bring myself to pull the trigger on a decent fs, mainly because i did not realize what a difference it would make.

here are a couple of more shots. last one shows some buttheads i keep running into on my dusk runs. second one is one of several downhill runs my sidehill trail traversed. it was so steep i was scared to traverse it.

Most of my riding is single track through the woods. Animals? I usually see deer, turkeys, fisher cats, hawks and owls. By far, the most common animal is someone's dog. The most unusual sighting is bear scat. Saw a bunch last fall, and before that, maybe 10 years ago.

Ilive at just above sea level, and am lucky if I can find a hill with a 400' vertical drop. We've go short, steep, gnarly hills, but nothing like the ones in your pics.

I'm sure you know how fortunate you are to have that kind of terrain and beauty so close.

Regarding the quoted language: I will never forget cute little Walrod (418, 409, etc.) in Crested Butte where I had a similar experience on my first real day of mountainbiking.

Wouldn't you love to have that terrain? It's probably cool there too. Bastard.

yup, that's why i upped and moved here three years ago from the big city. i am thankful every day. recently i discovered how cool these trails are on a decent bike and have a new reason to be thankful.

it is right now, but it will be in the 90s and 100s most days in the summer. i need to get my fitness way up before then or learn to get up early!

here is a trail map of the big network to my east if you are interested. this is nearly all single track and atv track. no pavement. top of those hills is about 5,300 feet and the trails get up pretty close to that although i have not been over 3,000' yet. i live at 1450. i live about 2 miles east of this photo.

Semlin,

It looks like you've got many, many 6 hour "Epic" rides to choose from. You're extremely lucky there.

My longest loops run a little over two hours, but I don't have enough trails to put together a 3 hour ride without overlap.

Like you, I just suit up and head out the back door. No need to haul the bike by car.

six hours  that sounds like golf. so far i am pleased to manage two.

crown land.... does the queen own it?

her majesty the queen in right of british columbia owns the public land in bc. that is not the same thing as the queen in her own right. she personally owns no land in bc.

Rode super-buff, fast trails last night. Only a few technical sections. Functioned flawlessly. At speed, the fork feels really good.

Update of Replacement Issue: The seller says replacement fork will ship after the end of the month. It confirmed that I need not send the problem fork back.

Rather than experiment on the problem fork, I may have it rebuilt as a spare instead. This may be important because the bike feels awkward with the new fork on it. Don't get me wrong, the fork works very well so far and is an amazing value, but the bike doesn't handle like it used to. It's not graceful -- it feels a little chopper-like. I plan to measure at lunch to make sure the fork has the right dimension. If it checks out, then I'll have to look at what's wrong with me and my riding this past week.
