Events/Trails I am WHEELING the 2008 Land Cruiser today!

That looks like a Warn setup, not ARB. I will want a combo bar, not just a bumper !!!

Stop complaining guys. If you want a 'real 4wd' go for the 70 series. The 80, 100, and now 200 series was never meant for the off roader. It will continue to be a 'soft' landcruiser for the foreseeable future.

So, chill out and keep using the highways.

Just my 2 cents.

The Landcruiser 70 series. The best of the best.

Oh my god what an ignorant statement.

(With all respect)

Bumpers? From my mechanic.

Bumpers? Who needs them if a coilover 4-inch lift gets slapped on?

3-inch Donohoe coilovers with 1" spacer
Front diff drop (custom)
4-inch rear OME J-springs

Yummie!

Uhm, bumpers, I would like to see how your mechanic is going to fill those gaps with channel iron.

As for lift, man you need to learn something about IFS lifts.

Who needs the areas filled?

What's the problem with my lift comment? If other coilover IFS lifts exist for 3 to 4 (Whatever) inches, then why not on this truck?

"You need to teach us"

And yes...I know with 4" that doesn't leave a lot of down travel on a 9" travel shock. But new upper arms have helped other vehicles address this. Can't we be optimistic on the Crtuiser?

Lets all remember that Toyota is a FOR PROFIT company. They are not concerned in the least with offering the perfect offroad vehicle. ANYTHING they produce will be a compromise for those who buy it. Thats where the aftermarket comes in. Toyota has partnered with ARB to carry and install under factory warrenty some of their products. This again...makes them money, but only takes the customer so far and does not make the perfect offroad vehicle.

I see the new LC as just another evolution. After all, 9 out of 10 cars or trucks that evolve to the next generation are packed with more gadgets, are larger, and stray from original styling cues of previous generations. Definately does not look like a 40, 60, 80, and slightly resembles a fat 100. It is what it is...the next generation. You have to exclude all the previous generations and take it for what it is. This is a Gamble Toyota has made. All previous LC's sold well...Will this one??? Who knows.

I kinda like it...but I'll stick with my FJC....it fits my needs best.

Probably leave little to none. I would not bank on a big lift for this truck.

As for bumpers, have you ever seen what is below that bumpers. You color matched your hi-lift, so don't tell me you are going to like exposed unfinished body panels :D

thats what i was refering to in the pic; at least with the old style you could wrap around and be done but with the new bumper its flush with the body gonna be very difficult. But also with the jeep pic you scrap that against a rock and its gonna be toast and least with the metal ones you can sand and then repaint them yourself with bodyshop involvment. it seems they went the very cheap route with this back bumper design is very similar to probably 10 to 20 cars minivans and suvs out. I find it hard to believe its all for safety reasons

I'm aware. Making wheeling bumpers would be easy. Slee's right though. I'd want off-road-bling bumpers for the 2008.

Some cannot afford one and therefore SOME trash it.

John -
I'm really sad for you that you think this way and let comments like that fall out of your mouth. I would never make such a comment and have yet to meet anyone respectable who would. It's important to be humble no matter how much coin you have.

Comment related to the thread:
It looks much better than the original spy pics. I'll be excited to see it progress into the capability that many have shown with the 100. Size would prohibit it from wheeling in my area but I'm sure it will do great on wide open trails.

This comment has NOTHING to do about me. It's very common in our little walk through life. SOME people complain about the very things they would like but cannot afford. It's not personal. It doesn't relate to my or anybody elses amount of coin.

Reality is that many on this forum and others in their walk through life would luv to have:

*A built and tricked 100 despite IFS
*A new 2008 Cruiser
*A Corvette Z06

Some can admit the merits of the above AND comment they can't afford them. Some would LUV to have the above though they down-play their merits due to personal pocketbooks and/or situations where they cannot get what they want. In other words they are dishonest with themselves and others.

Some folks would become instant hypocrits if all of a sudden one of the above examples would show up in their driveway. The very next day, once it was THEIRS, they'd point out how sweet it is.

That's the thing..Sometimes we, as people fail to realize how important it is to be grateful for what we already have...If it's a 60, 80, or 100 that one was fortunate enough to have the knowledge to build him/herself, or pay to have done..If it's
just being able to recognize that not everyone, in this day and age,
could even afford the cost of fuel to drive one of these things at all..Every one of us, needs to remind ourselves, that we are lucky to have what we've got...Then, we can truely recognize the 200 for what it is...The evolution of excellence that we've all excperienced in the landcruiser we already own...Lucky are we all.

BLAH BLAH NAG BLAH NAG NAG BITCH BITCH NAG BLAH BLAH BLAH...

Problem Solved.

Heres some more naging problem solving

That big space is actually for the better. You can have some big time reinforcement to support rubbing against trees and boulders. Then you have tons of reinforcement to hold your swing away spare tire holder and licenseplate relocater. Even on the other side, you can have a swing away dual jerry can holder. Wow, im a genious ;)
