HZJ73 rear quarter window seals

I have the FRP removable top on both of my HZJ73's, so there's not a direct pathway from the window frames to the lower 1/4 panels. However, one of my rigs has some serious rust happening at the bottom of the 1/4 panels behind the rear wheels. I suspect this was from constantly driving in rainy/salty conditions in Japan where it lived most of its life.
Separate question, Did you upgrade your indicator lights and rearview mirrors and grill to be all black?

I have two HZJ73's, the 95 (sand colored one) came to me from Japan with a new paint job and black grill/rear view mirrors/turn signal housings. The '91 (blue one) had a chrome grill that needed a couple of cracks repaired, so I recently did that and sanded the whole thing down and painted it black. The rear view mirrors are still chrome, but turn signal housings came from the factory black.

Are they both DX?

I don't post here much, but hoping maybe someone has experience with this issue. The quarter window "run channels"- the rubber guides that the sliding windows sit in- are decaying and shrinking on my LC. Fortunately, I was able to get new ones from Amayama. Installing them is where I'm stuck.

I believe the window frames need to be removed from the fiberglass top in order to pop the windows out and replace the run channels. However, I'm not finding guidance anywhere on how to do that. Anyone in the LC community out there have some tips how to figure this out?

Thanks in advance!

Update on the HZJ73 window seals- I'm finally getting a chance to pull the windows and redo the seals. After pulling the first window out, I got a good look at how badly the outer weather seals are deteriorated. Upon checking on Amayama, the weather seals appear to be discontinued and unavailable... I'm wondering if anyone has figured out a decent looking and functional work around for the weather seals such as a substitution generic seal, some sort of caulk or another way to waterproof around the window? I figure it's as good a time as ever to replace those with the window frames out of the truck. Looking forward to hearing from the experts here!

Butyl Sealant - comes as tape rolls or tubes of liquid. I have the tape on hand for when I eventually do this.

Ahh, that's a good call. I found a 1/2" x 30' foot roll on Amazon and just ordered it. It's only 1/8" thick, but I can probably do a double layer around the frame to fill in the gap if necessary. Thank you!!
