So I've got a bunch of cables I need to fab up for my 8274 winch, and I picked up one of these 16 ton crimping tools off Amazon:

Since I was only born with two hands, and help around the shop is scarce (I've tried to get the cat enthused, but he's not interested), I figured a mounting base was in order.

This is what I came up with:

Went a bit over the top and used red oak. I glued up a couple pieces (and some scrap oak) to make the thicker sections. I made the base long/wide enough to clamp to a variety of places.

Now to crimp some terminals and get that 8274 project done...

What? You went to all that trouble to make that super nice holder, and we don't get to see a video or at least pics of it in action?

Unfortunately, no pics or vids. I used it to crimp 2 ga terminals on my Warn 8274. And it worked great. Like most of the specialty tools I own, they all seem to end up being a single use item.

But if I ever need it.......

That is pretty great. Way over the top, which is how we like it here!

More importantly a pic of the cat lounging idly by watching others do the actual work. Annoyed that the food bowl is empty....again.

Nice job. I'm guilty of putting more time into the tool than the output of the tool.

My ongoing tablesaw upgrade project. Otherwise known as lipstick on a pig:

More on the tablesaw project when it's done, and I start a thread on it.
